In this video we go spearfishing in Hawaii with Sam Mase, a competitor on the 2018 US Women's Spearfishing Team. Her team won the Women's World Cup in Sagres, Portugal making them world champions. I dissect Sam's hunting and dives and she shoots her very first uku. I even check off a new species too.

You are not mistaken. It IS a red mullet. In Spain they are called SALMONETES. They are usually curious and you can find them either alone or in groups. They uae those barbs under the jaw to find buried creatures and eat them. Sometimes they stay put on the bottom but if you shoot them straight down and don't kill it, chances are they will rip. They are THAT delicate. If you want to see double shots or even triplets of red mullets... Check PEJEPEINE channel here in KZbin. I have seen them everywhere I have been, including MarsaAlam in the Red Sea.

My best dives are around a minute and a half, when I'm able to get myself extremely calm and relaxed. My best dry breath hold was just under 4 minutes. Ryan. Dude. You and another KZbinr have completely inspired me to get back into the sport. It’s been about 10yrs. Back when I started we only had black wetsuits. Camo was very uncommon. I live in sunny South Africa 🇿🇦 and was wondering if you would be so kind as to give me your opinion on black vs Camo? I have just ordered a new suit, fins and gun from @RobAllen in Durban, but due to COVID lockdown there is a forced delay. So I have a bit of time to make my final decision. I’ll be fishing mostly from shore (bugs, Garrick, Snoek, king mackerel etc). Looking forward to trying Rob Allen’s 110 Tuna roller. Was wondering about getting a reel as well? Or should I leave ghat till I get my experience up again? Thanks bud. Safe diving.

Christopher Lee ya my next dive I checked that same hole he went into but couldn’t find him. I’ve had very little luck finding fish after a shot and when I do it’s usually because an eel is eating them. Nothing gets wasted out there.
