When cleaning flatfish it’s easiest to fillet it out. make one centerline cut down the body, then slice inward from the edges to that center line on both sides. You’ll be able to scoop out the guts more efficiently after you remove the fillet that’s covering it

Love the vids! Just tried my hand at spear fishing for the first time on Maui. Was a bust! I was mostly going for Roi since the reef I was on was currently protecting all of the herbivores in hopes to restore it. Roi are fast - as soon as they saw my pole they bolted. Never had a chance. I did have the opportunity to land tako but those little guys had so much personality I couldn't bring myself to kill one even though I'd eat it.

Are wet suits important for spear fishing?
@Nopreshaspearfishing5 жыл бұрын
I went a year without and a 6 months with so far. Definitely a game changer. Get one made for spearfishing, padded in knees, elbows and chest, plus camo. Reef is sharp especially when you're pruned up and the wetsuit takes the scrapes and chills out of an already gnarly sport. Good luck and stay safe! 🤙🏽

really no reason to tickle the tako with the spear and handle it roughly if you're not going to eat it. it can injure the animal and it can die.
