thinking about the vis in this, I was reminded of diving in Monterey, where it's usually just a little better. I used to teach scuba there years ago, and got my wife into it when we got married in `92. In her first open water class, I decided to go out with the group to act as a backup, and the instructor shows up (different school, as Brawley's had long since closed) wearing the most God awful red & green checked leisure suit pants over his dry suit! All I could think of was, somewhere in the world, there's the matching jacket! Gotta admit though, with vis maybe at 20 feet or so, he stood out like a neon sign!

@@alexmacdonald258 That's awesome that you taught scuba! I am open water certified, but I don't have all the gear! And I haven't scuba dived for many years, but I'm planning on getting back into it as well! It is always funny to see people different crazy suits lol !

@@ExploreNHook It's seriously expensive now, I'll bet! The irony of all this was, I dropped my original Scubapro vest BC off at the scuba museum in Monterey! Everybody'd gone to weight pocket BC's, and since I was back to freediving, didn't have any need to get another one. We sure had lots of fun teaching, and our students were fantastic!

@@alexmacdonald258 Yes it is very expensive! That is the main reason I don't have all the gear! Oh I'm sure it was fun teaching people!

Good stuff! Been watching your videos, and I think I recognize your gear! Were you out there about a few weeks ago and talked briefly with a person (me) in a blue inflatable with a 5hp Honda? I was out there rockfishing, commented on us out there doing it our own way haha. Looks like so much fun! If that was you (or not), awesome stuff! Stay safe out there!

Great new video! I like how you add text of the names for each fish. The names are only visible for a couple seconds though, it would be nice if they were visible for a bit longer! Nice fishing!

It is a ton of fun!! It's a whole new world! I havent yet had an issue with seals or sealions! I've had two situations where a sealion and I stared at each other underwater, but then they took off!

Why did you switch back from the coil shock line to what u have now?
@ExploreNHook
@ExploreNHook Жыл бұрын
I switched back because I wanted to have instant tension on my line to be able to pull a lingcod immediately out of the rocks once I shot it, but with the shock line it has a lot of slack before I can get tension, so it gave plenty of fish time to dive into the rocks, which was a pain when it happened, but the reload time with the shock line is amazing, so I know ill probably go back and forth with it lol.

Also yes my float line is attached to my gun, makes it nice when I have to let go of my gun because my spear is stuck in the rocks I can find my gun again!

Gotta give you credit for your ethics . A lot of guys would have let some fish slip off the stringer to take bigger ones. Nice spearing.
