Was that a Giant Black Seabass on your camera? The last time I dove the islands was as a kid, 60 years ago. The Black Seabass had almost been fished to extension. The last time we fished for them was at Anacapa Island. The man who built my custom rods for me had photos of at least 50, each weighing hundreds of pounds, hanging on hooks on the barge off of Santa Monica in the 1930s or 40s. I'm glad to see them back, and I'm glad to have found your channel. Thanks for taking me back in time into the kelp forest.

Towards the end when we show the footage from the phone you can see the Black Sea bass! We have seen LOTS this year, it’s been very exciting to see them bounce back.

@@SVMahiOfficial And bounce back they have. When I was a kid, they were on the endangered species list, and it was illegal to harvest one. This was great to see. In fact, white seabass were rare. Thanks again.
