My exploration of the deep blue in the Mornington Peninsula. During the summer this place is bursting with sea life and for a spearfisherman like myself, this South Coast wonder is like a fish heaven. Please watch in HD :))

Good footage mate, but just FYI you can't catch abalone with a knife. You need to use a blunt instrument so that it doesn't cut the abalone up, as their blood can't clot and they will bleed to death. + the fisheries will book Ya if you don't carry around a blunt instrument and a measuring device if you're catching abalone.

Cheers mate! Yeh, I completely understand, a fellow spearo taught me that a couple of months ago. I have since purchased an Abalone tool from my local dive shop :) Thanks for checking out my video!

Green lip not allowed to be taken from ppb, the way your taking them with a knife is illegal u need a abalone knife, spear isn’t allowed any barbs and only two prongs
@Meysta4 жыл бұрын
Alright Mr Kentro, allow me to repeat myself. A. The Greenlips you speak of were taken on the back beach sides of Port Phillip Bay, ranging across Flinders through to Portsea- which is completely legal. (The bag limit is 5 of which no more than 2 can be Greenlips) B. Many years ago now, after talking to a fellow spearo, I purchased an abalone tool, from Scuba doctor dive shop, I lived and I learnt. C. When you are talking about this two-prong business, you are referring to a handheld spear, not, a Hawaiian sling, which is classed as a speargun by Victoria fisheries. Why do you think dive shops throughout victoria, including Adreno, would sell 5 pronged spearheads for Hawaiin slings if it was illegal? Nevertheless, thank you for checking out my video.
@alexpod67974 жыл бұрын
That’s a hand spear not a Hawaiian sling
@Meysta4 жыл бұрын
@@alexpod6797 It has a rubber sling at the end of it, and therefore, it is not classed as a hand spear.
@maxmiko61223 жыл бұрын
@@Meysta im on your side but its not a hand spear or a Hawaiian sling. its a pole spear. a hawaiin sling in a tube with a bungee cord in the middle and you have a spear in the tube. you then pull the cord BACK behind the spear and use that to propel it through the tube. I'm glad you learnt not to use a knife when collecting abalone.
@djgameryt49463 жыл бұрын
Hand spear pole spear Hawain sling are all same things they are a spear with a rubber on the end not a spear gun

It's illegal to take green lip from PPB. It's not hard to read the rules before you start spearfishing, and worse you post a video with the green lip out of the water.

Thanks mate. I can assure you, all these abs were measured before they were taken home. Besides, I think fisheries have bigger issues to tackle :)
