The coughing bit with Frieza was a shout out to how Frieza's English VA changed from Linda Young to Chris aves. also Saiyan names are puns on vegtables, Celifa is Celery, Pumbukin is Pumpkin, Toma is Tomato, Bardock is Burdock (a Japanese vegetable) and not sure about Totepo.

I love how the 2 real fans talk about original dragonball and these two fake fans just are shush on one end lol...fucking love how ignorant dragonball fans in the west can be to the original series ..I never understood why you don't watch 153 episodes of a epic series when so many fights are great choreographed and showing actual martial arts moves and philosophy in training in og dragonball ..dbz is episode 154..its literally chapter 194 of a story..its not episode 1 or chapter 1..viz made a dbz manga but in japan its all one manga without the z its literally like trying to understand the naruto or one piece mangas dropping in during the timeskips….you don't do it...dbz is not its own entity..its not like they don't reference the original show all the time or show clips from it cause its one story...I don't even get how you can like goku pikkoro or kururin if you only watch z..they are defined in og dragonball first as characters..I guess thats why so many who watched z only like vegeta or gohan or the villains or satan so much...their time to shine is in that series while goku pikkoro and kururin are mostly defined already

Bardock was battle damaged before he died in the Broly movie. He probably was fighting Frieza's army. They just cut it out because of time and they were expecting everyone to know what happened.

Regarding what all is canon here, just the shot of Bardock in space and Frieza pointing his way (as Planet Vegeta is destroyed). Supernova? Non-canon. Future sight? Non-canon (well, canon for Baba, not him). Most of the designs and events? Non-canon. Is it good? Mostly, yeah. Sort of like the Trunks special (which had more canon coverage). @@MaskedAvenger825 I've watched hunter x hunter and that's currently my number 1 favourite anime of all time but the thing is its very different coz some people either think it's average or the people that like it will say its their favourite so you'll have to see and form ur opinion and gintama is huuuuuuuuuge in Japan its like family guy but Japanese and when it gets serious... Omfg it contends top tier shounen arcs so I'd suggest checking it out after HxH but its really hard to get into so do ur research on it like reading blogs about it and stuff and then decide if u wanna watch, hope u enjoy HxH as much as I did

Honestly I prefer the original instead of just a hunch it was interesting to see a different race using their power and allowing bardock to see the future the new story is just a superman ripoff (not a bad thing akira toriyama is really special coz alot of people don't even complain when he changes his stuff let's say if oda of one piece did it then he'd get backlash but he never would tho coz he's a god lol)

if you guys read any comment of mine I hope its this one...the reason anime and films are different from each other in the anime world and the manga is cause their not made by the same person so changes occur...its just natural..no one wants to see the manga word for word panel by panel chapter by chapter in anime cause its already in written form so they add specials ovas movies filler and even in canon episodes scenes inbetween not in the manga including much more fighting even during canon fights to extend episodes and make money which you all love so while you complain about story changes, the reality is that special was not made by the author in 1989 it was a bunch of other people asking him for a small outline of a story they filled in the blanks he approved it and off it went...he took that made dragonball minus in like 2004 and then they adopted that into the broly movie with other writers and some small additions changes too by the author of the manga for modern times he wanted to make cause the chapter is so short originally not enough to fill a movie's time...we all hate minus we all like this original bardock backstory but its not canon..sadly...

So what happens here is what happens in the original show. The DBS: Broly movie retconned those scenarios. TFS sticks very true to the original source material. except when its super dumb and contradictory and just doesn't make sense.

The old Bardock movie isn't part of the source material tho, Toriyama had nothing to do with it. DBS Broly is the official story.

Can't retcon something that was never canon to begin with. The only mention of Bardock in the original manga was a brief flashback to his final stand, which is where his design came from. Dragon Ball Minus was the first canon version of his story, and DBS: Broly basically adapted it frame for frame.
