"Special Care" ~ Fanny, sung by Jean Millington

Fanny recorded "Special Care" on our second album, "Charity Ball," with Jean singing the lead. She really poured herself into this one - we all did, but she was singing it! - and we're all still pleased with the results. Of course we knew Stephen Stills had a lot up his sleeve, and this song was one of them.

I love this so much! I remember watching Fanny give a great live performance of this song in England, on a show called the Old Grey Whistle Test in the early 70s, I was around 10 years old. now I’m 62. Where did the time go. Thanks for sharing ♥️

It is a wonderful album, but “Special Care” really showed the wondrous vocal talent Jean could call upon to take us places we hadn’t been before! Great song. I remember buying all the Fanny records on vinyl and loving them, and catching the band eventually, as opening act for Jethro Tull at Oxford New Theatre. Ah, the 70s!

One of my favourite tracks from Charity Ball and in general. Gotta love the Beat-Club performance of this track! Best moments are Jean's vocals during the second chorus which is immediately followed by the Hammond-solo by Nickey, which in turn is followed by great, piano-driven outro! Objectively, I think you can tell Jean struggles a bit with the higher registers, but she still delivers the track with enough rocking power particularly during live performances, having better rock vocals than Nickey Barclay, who has decent vocals, but Jean despite some struggles still delivers a slightly rawer power.
