I believe the old tusker has a few askaris to accompany him on his journey into old age. There are always askaris looking for a leader to teach them wisdom and they will look after him till he dies , and then they will mourn too . Such an amazing act of compassion in nature.

Baie mooi Dankie ,groete Lucas

Soooo Impressive to see ED, on our last trip to Kruger in 2016 we had a sighting of three big guys. But one stood out easily 3 ft taller than the other 2. While his tusks we're as big as this one, he wasn't far off & when he stood on his back legs to get at some treetop greens, WOW he was so huge. Thanks for sharing your adventures, it'll drive me to return to Kruger NP, such an excellent park & all it was to offer.

Its a very special moment to be able to have a big tusker grace our presence like this. Very well captured. We had one 18 years ago and was never able to find him again. Now that you know where he roams I hope you find him again. Kruger! Such a special place! My idea of Eden

Somewhere in my photo collection I have a photo of an Elephant with similar tusks that I saw in the area of Renosterkoppies and Mpondo dam. He was about 200m from the road and walking from a drainage line in an open area. Unfortunately he was heading away from us, but such an amazing sight.
