My grandfather fought in Hue. He never really talked about it but I do know of two snippets he shared with me. 1. Stanley Kubrick captured what Hue looked like to the T 2. He saw Walter Cronkite reporting the news across the street while him and his fellow marines were hiding behind a wall.

Great stop motion! However, just want to point out that the Vietcong didn’t wear a uniform as they were just a communist revolutionary group. They wore normal clothes and stuck to guerilla warfare and avoided traditional combat

Nope. ’’vietcong’’ is a world who designed who take weapons against the USA and their allies (those didn’t wear uniforms) AND north vietnam’s soldiers (who were wearing uniforms). You actually have the ’’basic ’’ view of the vietcong’s we can see in the American movies but those aren't accurate.

After watching Ken Burns’s 18 hour long documentary about the Vietnam War I now understand how badly the US preformed in the war. Even though the US technically “won” the battle of Hue, it came at a terrible cost of life and morale.

@@sambraun7756 We killed a lot more of them sure, but we were never able to secure South Vietnam or hold captured territory for more than a few weeks. And also most of the soldiers the US fought against were communist revolutionaries from South Vietnam and not members of the North Vietnamese Army. If you listen to leaked audio tapes from Lyndon Johnson, the president during the deadliest years of the Vietnam War, he knew the US could not win. Nixon promised a victory within the first year of his presidency and the US remained in Vietnam for another 3 years. When we withdrew, South Vietnam fell. I have massive respect for the brave Americans who fought and died in Nam, but not for the leaders in the US who let kids die to help them win elections. If you want to learn more about the war, watch Ken Burns’s 18 hour long documentary about the Vietnam War. It is very well made.

Nice video bro, although gotta say some of the Vietnamese sayings are kinda wonky here. I don't think we ever refer to mortars of mortar shells as "hỏa châu", but rather the word for mortar is "cối". "Hỏa châu" means something along the line of "fire rocket" which would look more like a recoilless rifle or RPG shell than a mortar's. Also some of the words use are way too formal. This is just a suggestion, but maybe some subtle Vietnamese damning next time would be nice?
