It's a nice contrast. Shows that the intensity of their relationship is as natural as small tasks and activities around the house. Further...each place she is wandering to is a place where she and her lover are being intimate. Meaning, they start making love on the couch, head to the kitchen, the dining room, then end up in the bedroom.

@@catsandaestheticroses4817 ahaha yes. You also notice that she “prepares” the cereal in the kitchen and only drinks coffee in the kitchen. Like she’s getting her energy up. She only starts “eating” (wink wink) on the table. Then when they make it to the bed, it’s now Moonbyul singing the chorus and not Seori. It’s an indication of a switch of “position” or “dominance”. i just wanna talk about how beautiful the mv is. The scene starts w/ byul sitting on the sofa reading a book and using her phone then seori appeared beside her who is trying to get byul's attention but byul remained looking at her book/phone. This continue to the kitchen until to the table where byul ignored seori. From what I gather from the video-since byul said that they can't make the Shutdown muisc video based on the lyrics bc it might be too r rated (i think she said this in an interview)-its like in the mv seori is trying to "seduce" byul to doing "it" but byul is being, lets say "playing hard to get" so moonbyul keep ignoring the 'temptation' which is seori. This where the cereal table scene comes in, the song was already in the bridge part and building up to the chorus or "climax" both byul and seori stood and went to the bedroom "byul is finally giving in" and both of them sitting and looking at each other at the same time is like nearing the "climax" of it. Also mind the lights outside the window and the lyrics "on my lap till morning" means they've been doing it until morning. I cant fully explain but this was my interpretation from the mv. And Moonbyul is showing us again why she is a great artist.

I guess there is still a long way to go fighting for women and lgbtq+ rights in SK..(if I’m wrong, please tell me.) Therefore, finding an idol who is so brave, supportive, and dare to represent a lgbtq+ role on mainstream really surprised me. Moonbyul’s a talented singer, rapper and songwriter, surely deserves more attention. Seori’s excellent, too. These confident, open-minded, and talented girls are really fantastic.

I'm so damn proud of Byul and so excited for the release of this album. She's put her everything into this, even promoting it as much as she can which shouldn't even be her job... Let's do our best to support her and make this comeback a success!!! Also, the fact that they're singing to each other, like it's clearly a sapphic MV like there's no way around that... I'm just... Wow. Lemme just go look up the lyrics and freak out over that too, lmao.

So I agree that the lyrics are a bit risqué, but I think that’s what makes SHUTDOWN a statement song. In pop culture, be it western or Korean, LGBT romance is rarely represented. but with this song, and G999 which has the lyrical meaning of being different and from another planet, yet refusing to be called an alien, we see Moonbyul doing what many artists shy away from doing - to represent and normalize homosexuality in her music. This is further amplified by the use of the specific pronouns “SHE SAID” in shutdown. While G999 was an “awakening” song or the first introduction, SHUTDOWN depicts a honey moon phase, and takes a more adult turn with both the lyrics and message. Moonbyul has previously said she doesn’t like using specific pronouns in her songs because she wants to create relatable music. However, the fact that she DOES use pronouns in SHUTDOWN, and actually uses them to represent a lesbian relationship, is SO POWERFUL. There is clear sapphic poetry in those lyrics. You can clearly read them like a poem. And like you said, the accompanying video could have been equally sexual, however Moonbyul uses a normal and warm setting of a home. This NORMALIZES homosexual relationships, sending the message that same sex couples and “sex” in general need to be normalized in the conservative cultures of developing countries. Especially considering how gay marriages are still not legal in South Korea. NEVERTHELESS, I highly think that we shouldn’t use this song and it’s message to ask Moonbyul intrusive questions about her own sexuality or ASSUME anything. She can be whoever she wants and she doesn’t need to tell us. And we certainly shouldn’t assume that just because she wrote this song, it automatically makes her a lesbian herself. Like heterosexuality shouldn’t be forced on an idol, I think homosexuality should also not be assumed. However what we CAN take as a message is simply that Byul cares. She CARES enough to make a song and represent a minority group. She CARES enough to make the stand despite any consequences. She simply CARES. I think this song needs to be hyped about even more. It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, and that’s saying something ❤️✨

If y'all don't know Shutdown is an erotic song about two women who are in love! (Byul has confirmed that the song is erotic) I think Moonbyul has done a great job writing this song! The lyrics talk about the intimate moments shared between two women in love. The lyrics are erotic but not vulgar. Usually, in pop culture same sex relationships are sexualised. It makes LGBTQ+ people uncomfortable. But, Byul has painted such a beautiful intimate picture using her great song writing skills! Also, this song is pretty progressive because South Korea is a very conservative country. Same-sex couples face a lot of problems there. Too many of them can't even express their sexuality due to backlash. So, kudos to our Moonstar for representing LGBTQ+ people ( here lesbian couple) Also, Seori's vocals are beautiful as well! Her warm voice evokes such a fuzzy feeling inside! Seori too is a huge ally to LGBTQ + community! Do check out her discography as well!

I really hope this song blows up! It's rare to see LGBT themed songs that are not tragic. I'm so glad Byul released something like this, a song about a happy and healthy relationship between two women, despite Korea's heteronormative views.

As others have said this song is Poetry. And that’s what makes it so special and sets it apart from the gimmicky stuff. This song feels so genuine and intimate bc it comes from a genuine place and isn’t a record company or artist trying to get streams via shock factor or sexualized scenes. This song and video is Tell > Show and through that it communicates intense feelings that inadvertently create a mental image of your own.
