What you can pay for out of a STABLE account limited to "Things a person needs because of their disability" That's not entirely correct. Money from a STABLE account can be used to pay for "Qualified Disability Expenses" which does include expenses related to your disability but ALSO includes expenses that help you maintain or improve your health, independence, or quality of life. That is a much broader category and includes a huge range of things such as the purchase of a car, a home, personal care items, books and educational material.
