Just to answer a few things questioned in this video. the guy in the van said Cognitohazard. which means that whatever sort of anomaly they're dealing with is able to manipulate someone's brain or brain functions. so he's basically betting it's an anomaly that messes with cognitive functions. the threat is ultimately unknown upon initial entry. the intent of the SCP foundation is to secure anomalous entities. they won't move anything from the site unless they know for certain it's safe to do so. the dangers they face aren't always clear cut. a roll of toilet paper could be a nuclear bomb (and yes, that's an actual entity found by the Foundation on the Wiki site.) that's why they didn't touch or interact with the guy who was paralyzed, because they don't know what would happen. so the engagement strategy is to always take things slowly. manipulation of the entities on site could result in the site and Foundation involvement being compromised. so turning on the lights may have angered or alerted any entities that are on the site. they removed their night-vision part way through because they shut down. the operators even say so. "shit! my NODs don't work!" the reason why these guys are rather stoic about the operation is because this sort of operation is quite sedated in comparison to many other missions. Only two confirmed casualties is rather low in comparison to other missions performed by Foundation MTF (Mobile Task Force) units or events that revolve around the SCP Foundation. For comparison, SCP-096 is an entity that ended up causing a massive slaughter of an entire town and highway. so ultimately the liberties taken in this short film that don't match up with real world military tactics could be argued as something that Foundation would have to do as precautionary measures. After all, the Foundation is always dealing with unknowns, it's they're entire purpose.

The point of the SCP stuff is geared mostly toward the horror genre anyways. A lot of vets watch this and will only view it from a real world military standpoint, but this is fiction and you don't get fucking ghosts, creatures and paranormal shit in real life lol and obviously with a unit whose job is to deal with special stuff like this, a lot of the rules will change.

Technically not correct, but close enough about what a cognitohazard is. A cognitohazard is something that is hazardous when *perceived* by a person's senses (or when someone becomes "cognisant" of them, hence the name). Not all cognitohazards affect people's brains, but it's usually the best way to tell the story, by giving someone some sort of unnatural compulsion.

18:10 they left him because as guessed at the start, it's a cognitohazard meaning that it "glitched" him because he was looking at it. The MTF knows there's no saving him after he's been overtaken like that and if they were to go to him, they'd look at the hazard themselves leaving them in the same place he's at.
@danielhaire6677 Жыл бұрын
Also, things are seeming different than an ordinary cognitohazard like the moving furniture or the way he is glitching seeming like a video game. This means they could be dealing with a reality bender or a cyber. Neither of which their team appears to be specialized in dealing with. Otherwise, they would be augmented from a specialist MTF or even had that team run this op. Anyways, losing 3 to an unknown SCP like this on a recon, could be considered LIGHT casualties for whatever this turns out to be. If they had broken protocol and brought EVERYTHING back to an SCP base the casualties could grow into the hundreds if not thousands in a matter of minutes depending on how powerful the SCP is.

"The" theory about the whole story is: -there is a house. -there is a computer in that house. -the computer runs a program (yava). -the program keeps crashing and rebooting. Basically, the "house" is the result of the program being run. Like a video game, a level/map/etc... is basically code; interactions are code, etc... But the MTF dudes are not part of the program, and thus "yava" is trying work its way to translate their presence into code so the program can run. Like introducing into a game "something" that is foreign to the game, thus does not translate and/or make sense and thus making the program crash. It is an "anomaly contained within itself", so to speak, yet somehow permeating into the real world "for some reasons".

Think of it this way: If your buddy is covered with radioactive material or infected with a unknown virus, you wouldn’t fuck with it now would you? That’s why the MTFs leave the guy behind, because there is high risk that shit may go haywire for either the individual bothering to touch him, or even the entire team(because remember they don’t know what the fuck they are dealing with). And then in the house they mention it's a parallax or whatever the so it's constantly expanding and changing so they enter and cleared the kitchen, cleared the kitchen and when they came back there was a new doorway I think. But there's ton of different shit so when 1-6 or whoever got got they don't want to risk whatever happened to him happening to them so they just fucked off after. Their job is to identify whether the anomaly is dangerous or not, some of them are harmless like some dude who just constantly changing time and space to make it feel like he's just living a normal office job life even when in reality he could be in a cell, to super hero type characters, to world ending demons and there cultists.

We had real service members as consultants and as actors. They were helpful in providing us every bit of information about the, protocols, the uniforms (how to properly wear them and which insignia goes where), the weapons and equipment, and tactics. A cognito hazard is a anomaly that can be experienced by any of the five senses. They can vary in power and in capability. Some of them can be hazardous and kill people immediately. Others can change how people think, such as a book that can make people think they were always a part of the foundation.
@gabrielandradeferraz3863 жыл бұрын
bro, in an scp context, it makes perfect sense. wouldn't be the first scp that goes away once you are not looking, touching weird stuff usually means certain death, and also those guys are probably on deathrow for something, with maybe one month of training, because they are disposable, most of times they will just erase your memories after, because this shit is super weird and might sprout back from them.
@josetomaslopezcaballero74653 жыл бұрын
You should also consider that in the SCP universe there are some messed up stuff. From a sloth that appears in a video recording that leaves people catatonic, to a virus that is spread purely upon looking at it that turns you into a monstrous shark person. As such these guys are not only trained to be jaded to the idea of death all around them. But also it is relatively common for entire Task forces to be eliminated by simply attempting to rescue a injured soldier in the most gruesome ways. Additionally, they entered relatively covertly into a suburban area, they had the lights off in order to avoid alerting any innocent civilians, entities residing inside the home , or even potential extradimensional cults that had purposefully created that scenario in order to lure in the foundation and kill them. (This is more common than you would expect). And finally, even though they have guns it is a well known fact that the vast majority of beings the foundation encounter are in some way shape or form immune to bullets. So the best you can do if you're stuck in the same room with a ghost girl is finish your mission before your inevitable demise.

The reason you don't turn on the lights, or move anything, and particularly _remove_ anything in this situation is that this is a situation where you don't know if a fridge magnet is going to act as a grenade pin on the whole situation. Minimal practical interaction is the name of the game. They have no idea if the house is alive, a portal to an alien dimension, perfectly normal, or made of something that will turn hazardous if removed from the property. Likewise, the gentle touch on the door, and not touching an unneeded power swtiches. Even photos might be hazardous to bring outside. This is not the info gathering team. The lore behind these teams is that basically mortality rate can be very high, so losing a squad mate is common. To the point where when someone dies it's more like "oh man, another one died? That's, like, the 5th one this week!". That's why they are so indifferent about their deaths, it's more about how they died instead of who died, because the next one could be them, so they need to figure out what killed the guy to avoid it, and since the dude just stopped working out of nowhere they were like: "shit, now what?"
@mightyphantom21763 жыл бұрын
Agreed but death really never gets easier so while it is common a little more emotion would just make everything feel and fit better, in the end the acting wasn’t good and it showed so while they should’ve been desensitized to it more it shouldn’t have been as emotionless for the story and making people feel more when watching it

Do you guys ever watched The Raid and The Raid Redemption? Especially 'The Raid' first movie (2011). I'd love to see your reaction about the spec ops operation in that movie. I wonder what will you do, or your opinion, as spec ops vets, if you guys trapped in the building full of gangsters, then acknowledge that you and your whole team basically just used and exploited by corrupt politician. Just like all the characters went thru in the movie. Would you stay loyal to your oath to your country (like Rama) and going stray, or join the gangster to survive (just like Rama's brother and the captain)?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the reason they aren't taking their nods off until they fully stop functioning except for the basement guys, is because of the potential cognitohazard risk, their are SCP's that will break your mind if you look at them with the naked eye, so it's better safe than sorry unless it's preventing you from being able to see literally anything.

(2 years late, i know) but after watching this I fell like you expect a normal military short film. A lot of (if not most) criticism is simply unjustified - "gear looks like foam pads" This isn't an active shooter situation. - "dad's van" foundation wants as little attention to its actions as possible. Having a proper SWAT car is NOT STEALTHY. And multiple civilian cars also bring much attention. - "grab him" You have a standing glitch that's clearly took over someone. Would you *honestly* even touch him? - "just take everything" They are a recon team, not "steal every paper in sight" team + like others said, even some documents could be anomalous. - "noctovision most of the time" and yet again, attention. Lights on, or flashlights and 6 people with guns bring attention from possible bystanders, + this is for atmosphere. If they turn off ambient light, you wouldn't see anything in the film. They don't have RED cameras with big sensors to see clearly in the dark. And true night vision would have "first person look" not what the creator wanted. - "glass tubes" Yes, It's not a true night vision gear. This is a budget film, not Hollywood - "bunch of kids" more like volunteers. So again, budget. Someone said it was $500 for the film, so yeah, not enough for them to hire anyone. I'm sure there could be someone that would help, but it's too late now. - and of course crème de la crème, "ghosts" This is an SCP film. I'm kind of surprised how you don't research anything then complain about it. It's like comparing something like living in city and village. Most things are (almost) the same, but you can't just compare the two. This is not a hate comment, to be honest. I'm not mad, just disappointed.
@remix2593 Жыл бұрын
god, thank you for this the reaction was bearable at first and was curious to see what they had to say, but after the guy glitched out they just went into full blown mocking the film without even understanding the source material, and it was genuinely painful to see and frustrating to listen too and to further add onto your comment: while not everything they do is "100% tactically correct" (which would make sense given the small budget of the film), it also does partly make sense as well from a lore standpoint, given the fact the MTF aren't a military unit meant to deal with terrorist or nazi's or whatever and are meant to deal with SCP's, so with that being said, some of the things they do that wouldn't make sense from a military standpoint makes sense from the MTF's standpoint, such as the equipment they used, from a writing standpoint it was most likely due to budget reasons, but it also makes sense from a lore standpoint too, as you pointed out (not a lot of heavy gear cause of it not being needed (not like it would've made a difference as all it has to do is glitch em out), having a van instead of a military tank or something, etc), the MTF also usually tends to take things slower too in comparison to a SWAT team or a military unit, they aren't doing a full blown raid meant to rush everything down, they have to be more cautions as they don't know what they're dealing with and to avoid drawing too much attention in order to not risk info of the SCP going public they also kept making fun of the laptop guy for "turning around" when the girl showed up, which I'm gonna assume was due to a result of them not listening during the most interesting part of the dialogue, as they kept talking over it in order to mock the film, where he said the laptop was most likely causing the anomalous activity and stayed behind to gather the data, the reason he "turned around" wasn't cause he was "pretending she wasn't there" (like how they kept mocking him for), but to finish the job and shutdown the laptop before she reached him so yeah, most of their "complaints" are unjustified, I agree, they're either viewing the MTF through the lens of a military unit which doesn't fully compare, because they don't fully understand/know the source material, being the SCP's/SCP wiki/SCP foundation or because of the fact this is a very low budget short film, and kept mocking it as a result (the actors being volunteers and the nightvision goggles/NODs not being fully accurate for example) they're holding an low budget indie film to the standards of a hollywood movie and it pisses me off, what ESPECIALLY pissed me off is that they even had the audacity to mock and make fun of the actors too, more so around the last 2 to 3 minutes of the video, it's a low budget film and they did PRETTY DAMN GOOD with what they had to work with, maybe that's the point of the channel as this is the only video I've watched from em (maybe that's the reason they have "savage" in their username? idk), but still, if you're gonna mock someone else's work at least make sure what you're saying is factually true or justified, and most of which they said really isn't and the final thing, they also kept treating it as a "military short film", when it isn't, it really isn't, it's a horror short film, not to mention I already went over the fact the MTF aren't apart of the military, so they aren't going to use tactics 100% identical to that of the military, again, they aren't dealing with terrorist or nazi's, but unknown entities/anomalies, the only complaint they made in regards to this that I can agree with is when they all had their backs turned in a small room not paying attention to see if I'll return outside of it as the entities movements are unpredictable, yeah, probably wasn't the smartest idea, but it's overall a nitpick in the grand scheme of the video, 1 minor valid complaint that hardly impacts the video over several unjustified complaints, they're holding their standards way too high, they even openly admitted they enjoyed mostly everything else about the film, yet still rated it a "-3 out of 10" just cause it wasn't tactically accurate (again, third time now, in the lore they aren't even a military unit, so it really doesn't matter that much imo) they also made fun of em at one point for removing their NOD's too, even tho they clearly stated beforehand that they "stopped working" 💀 edited: fixed a few typos

The reason they don’t grab intelligence and get out immediately or grab their fellow man when down is because they MTF unit is trained not to tamper with anything if it can be helped, for example, if they were to take intelligence in the folder outside the house but the folder was anomalous(because why wouldn’t there be a risk of that) they risk bringing an anomalous item out of what was potentially its only form of containment(in this case the house), and touching their fellow man possibly risked their health as the anomalous property might spread to them if they touched him, that’s why he just got left behind

I agree but I think a bigger part is the acting, they weren’t professionals and if it was better it would convey more of what they were feeling and emotions and really history of the team. Nothing against the people in it they were volunteers they did the best they could

@@mightyphantom2176 true but honestly the emotional disconnect is probably accurate to the world due to how dangerous the MTF job is and they all likely have seen several people die in their time of working. @CowboySkeetbop3 жыл бұрын
Just to clear a little of the confusion up, from overlord and dollhouse, I’ve seen people explain what SCP is so I know you guys know the organization and what they do. What they don’t explain is how it kinda works so I’ll elaborate on it a tad since I haven’t seen anyone else do it. Typically a lot of the confusion is just how they operate, which is understandable since it looks dumb to someone who isn’t familiar with the lore, is to analyze what they can about everything surrounding an anomaly before leaving. Given that they knew nothing about the anomaly, they have to assume that anything in the house, including the house itself, could be the anomaly. So while they’re searching for evidence or any inkling of information that could give them a lead, it’ll let them know where to look first and what they’re getting into. Reason why they didn’t try to touch or move the guy who got frozen, or digitalized I suppose, was because with a lot of anomalies in the universe, the chances of it spreading to them would’ve been a very likely outcome. Now why they reacted the way they did to it, or rather how they didn’t react, can be summed up to the lore of how much things like this quite literally happen all the time. Staring at an anomaly, both you and your buddy blink, and his neck gets snapped and now you’re face to face with the anomaly (scp173). Or you’re in a briefing with another friend, he catches a glimpse of 096, and within minutes the wall behind you is destroyed, followed by screaming, and the next time you look at him, his body parts are scattered across the room. It’s a lot of things it could be but still a valid criticism I’d say. At the end, guy with the green mask, he mentions that the anomaly is tied to the laptop and that the code it’s spitting out is fucked, as it continued they made the connection that the situation they’re in is too risky to be taken out of the house, which is why he stayed behind to shut everything down after they left with at least some information on the mission. Once he shut the computer down at the video ended, I suppose it’s up for interpretation, but it seems to be that his hypothesis on the anomaly being the laptop, or the code running on it, was correct. I get how all of this seems super weird, and believe me you’re not wrong, but it takes a fair bit of digging to understand some of the reasons why they act the way they do in these videos and I can’t recommend enough that you guys find an SCP that interests you. My personal favorite is 096, I feel like he’s a popular pick, but it’s a genuinely terrifying anomaly. Also has a short film on KZbin if you’re interested.

I mean the first movie, where there's spec ops infiltration scenes into apartement building complex, runs by gangsters, to raid and caught a criminal kingpin, but the operation turned out to be ilegal operation. So, from that movie, I'm just very curious about your opinion guys: 1. Would you still go if you think the operation is sketchy? Is it ok to questioning if you have doubt about it? Or you have no choice and just follow orders? Or you should get triggered if your team mates questioning about it (because it's a patriotic thing to do for your country, stuff like that) Because that's the intro and the psychological situation in the SWAT team in this movie. 2. If you found out that you are in the middle of ilegal operation, what would you do? 3. The whole story premise from The Raid (2011). What do you guys think about the situation: The spec ops that turned out to be ilegal operation, betrayed by your leaders, so no back up, most of your team mates slaughtered, sorrounded by the gangsters who run the place, hated by civilians who lived there, and there's some psychopaths hunting you down and aim your head for a trophy. Also they keep talking about turning on the lights in the other dimension and how it is bright enough to see without nods, its just the artistic direction of how it is filmed. They did, problem is it just doesnt work for the shot a lot of the times. So they have to take more of an artistic liberty to make what they can fit into the camera look good. Just like how in Star Wars if you watch the light saber duels it doesnt make a lot of practical sense of how they strike. But thats not the point, its an art form that looks interesting on camera.
