Exactly. It never was about man vs woman. Depp was fighting a case against a liar. It was Heard and her fans that turned it into some sick sexist statement. They need proof of that? Listen to what she said to him about if the world would believe him...a man.

So true. However, there will be women that will continue to make fraudulent claims destroying men's lives. As a woman, I WOULD NEVER MAKE FALSE CLAIMS AGAINST A MAN. I was a victim and then became a survivor. There was no justice for me but I'm happy he got some justice on U.S. soil since he didn't have any across the pond.

As a survivor I could have NOT CARED LESS about the “salacious” details - good grief, people are not perfect but the majority of people, that I’ve met in my lifetime, are not so shallow. In my survivor community we wanted to see AH held accountable for making a MOCKERY of my experience and the experiences of all survivors. She also made a MOCKERY of our nations’s heroes, and others who have suffered through horrendous trauma, who suffer from debilitating PTSD by claiming that she herself suffered from PTSD because of JD. B…S…!!!! Her psychologist didn’t even complete the testing for PTSD correctly and committed the #1 sin in forensic psychology…..SHE TOOK AH FOR HER WORD & ignored obvious symptoms of one or more personality disorders. Sadly, she’s not going to give up until she finds her next “victim” to manipulate, control, etc. I wonder if JD’s attorneys can serve a cease & desist order to keep her from continuing to make these horrendous allegations against him? Nonetheless, she’s FINALLY been held accountable for her LIES. SHE ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT REPRESENT ME….JOHNNY REPRESENTS MEN & WOMEN WHO HAVE SURVIVED FROM DV!! Blessings to you all!!

Me thinks that Phil Shuman@FoxPhil, Fox 11, is suffering from a case of transference, as the only "sexual" mention in the trial was Amber's made up sexual assault, but obviously old Phil thinks even a made up sexual assault is "salacious".... I think he should stop accusing the viewers of perversion and take a long look in his own mirror.

We were watching because it was obvious Amber lied and ruined Depp's repitation. There is great injustice when someone can just blatantly lie and accuse someone about physical abuse. Not the trivial reasons one or two of the panel said. Maybe they were projecting.

I used to lowkey be one, though no where near as bad as Amber. I'd never falsely accused someone outright but I gaslit and did manipulative emotional shit like she did. I stopped because it made me feel so horrible about myself that I felt entitled to so much but then treated everyone else like trash... I didn't do it on purpose, and that's the only thing that is consoling detail, is that I WORKED HARD on figuring out when and why I did these things. A lot of these people don't recognize what they are doing in the moment but feel terribly embarrassed and guilty after. Its about breaking that cycle and not reacting to your own guilt with deflection and denial and owning your mistakes. I apologized to those I mistreated without being asked, and I will over and over again if I ever feel I need to reaffirm that either for them or for myself. That's how REAL apologies happen, out of nowhere, and sometimes they even surprise the people who you are apologizing to... Because they didn't ever expect to get one. Its because of my own history in working on myself that I could not STAND Amber. Its one thing to have issues and not be at a place where you're ready or able to fix them, its another thing to double down on your lies IN A COURT OF LAW and while in a more lucid sensible state than being in the heat of the moment. This isn't even self preservation, this is greed. And that's why this case was so impactful to me. I saw what I could've become if I didn't have the empathy to care more about others and want to treat them better than i am even used to treating myself. I had that inner conflict and I answered it and improved who I was, Amber has no sign of even the most remote level of awareness towards the impacts of her actions on others. She's slipping and trying to grasp for a stable ground to establish personal security, but the issue is she doesn't care how many people she knocks down while doing it. Problem is, when you knock down everyone around you and you're falling off a cliff, its only a matter of time before someone grabs your ankle on their way down. If you build up those around you, they will be stronger and more willing to pull you up into safety. This woman had everything and it wasnt enough for her.

Great professional analysis. Yes, this is a spectacle of excess though. What is not talked about too much, is the fabric that created this spectacle. Original child abuse helped to create addiction, drug and alcohol abuse from both Depp and Heard, Bipolar and personality disorders as well as that unstable lifestyle (from both) as you mentioned. You are either lawyers, professional commentators, etc and speak very educationally and speculatively about this case. I am speculating about Depp and Heard's adult lives after severe childhood abuse. I was a lifelong supporter and fan of Depp before this case. It is not that I believe Heard in totality, but to witness so much unsavory behavior and unwillingness (shown) from Depp to change destructive habits and addictions I simply cannot un see it to return to my unrealistic view of Depp. I am hoping as a human being that both get serious help, to be the adult they would have been if their childhood abuse had not happened. Of course you all stick to legal matters and commentary here, I appreciate that. One thing I know is the bottomless hatred a Borderline mind can have toward their "betrayer". Of course speaking of Amber here. She basically played the men who did abuse her, the way she felt they abused and played her. Those men, were her abusive father, and then Johnny. Did Johnny abuse her? Of course he did, but not in the histrionic exaggerated form she told about. So, legally did she lose because of this exaggeration? Perjury may have occurred on both sides. Why was Heard not slapped with perjury charges? Was the jury understanding how distorted and deeply disturbed Heard is? Was the monetary slap on the hand in defamation charges a way to acknowledge her illness, but still send a message to her that she must take accountability (Which she should.). Fascinating

What kept me interested in the case was the discrepancy between the two sides. You have all of the genuine and likeable people testifying for JD plus his highly professional lawyers. And then you have Heard's side which is full of liars and unprofessional people. It felt like watching a real life battle of wits between good and evil where you could clearly tell that the good side was winning which made it very enjoyable. Simply put, you could laugh at and be shocked by the audacity of Heard's team while being captivated by Depp's team. Some nicely balanced entertainment. The attraction wasn't the bedroom talk as suggested here but it was loyalty to an actor that we have loved for years and the indignation of such a horrible hoax that was perpetrated on him, intended from the beginning of the relationship. He was the target of a vicious predator and was deeply wounded, we wanted to see him come out alive and well. It truly was that we wanted Justice for Johnny.

As a female, it wasn't about the "salacious details" but hoping to see JUSTICE. I never believed a person would wake up in their 50s and all of a sudden become a domestic & sexual abuser! Watching the trial from the start and hearing and seeing ALL of the evidence, it was obvious she set out to destroy an innocent man while at the same time abusing him. Thank goodness the jury saw and heard the same thing that millions globally did too.

This trial has been cathartic for a lot of victims of abuse, they got to live, breathe and feel justice, they got to vicariously confront, laugh at and be set free from their abuser through Johnny, a large portion of Johnny's supporters are female IPV survivors. So many people around the world saw their own abuser on the stand when they looked at amber, people saw the same lies, the same narcissism, the same arrogance, and over inflated ego that had traumatised them, which is why so many people are revelling in the fact they can laugh at her, because they never got the chance with their own abusers.

I agree! Also in the US I find if you look a certain way and make allegations, no matter how ridiculous they are, it is not always the facts that come in to play. You have a broken nose, there is at least swelling, bruising, and possibly lacerations with crook, blocked always, Pain etc. none of those were evident. I felt so bad when I heard the Joshua Tree story. He took her up for something he would enjoy doing with his wife and instead she was bored thought she was too good for a place like that. She decided to drink and take drugs and argue with Johnny and then says time after time he is an addict? And you ma’am are a narcissist in the worst way! I wasn’t “fascinated” with the case. My reason for watching is because she turned it personal when she said that she was standing up for every abused woman. I’m a DV/SV survivor, with the medical documents and police reports to back it up. I watched the trial because I have never believed Amber’s claims. Too many things didn’t add up. And then, she continued to speak on “behalf of all survivors”. This made it personal. So much evidence that proved that she wasn’t abused. Same pictures submitted for separate events. So many lies that she was caught in on the stand. Different stories between herself and other people about what happened on the stairs. Saying that pledging and donating are the same thing! Not really crying on the stand. When my abuser was being prosecuted, I couldn’t even step foot in the courthouse because I would have had a full blown panic attack. My lawyer and dad went on my behalf. I thought I saw my ex once in the store and had to hide under a shelf. Yet she was able to acts with passion, trying to cry, and then with anger. But she did not act like someone that has been violently abused and was scared for her life. Johnny won this for himself, and for the rest of us true abuse survivors that are sick of people “abusing” the system. Amber does not stand for me. People, both women and men, that are abused will not see a setback of belief when telling their true stories.

I saw the trial the exact same way; Poor Johnny *who just seems like a sweet guy* had his reputation turn into the exact opposite of who he is. And Amber, I think, needs to admit what she has done and let the world know of her huge betrayal of trust .. in addition, I'm all about Amber finding total redemption from all of us *on the condition that she apologize for Everything and that she tell the WHOLE truth Finally* .. Maybe, after many years of therapy and making up for her sins, she could become the spokesperson for a Redemption That Defies All The Odds. I'm curious if you believe in that Particular brand of Redemption ... if not, I definitely understand.

@@rickdynes Yes, I believe that anyone can be redeemed. But only when they truly humble themselves and change their behavior. I used the trial to teach my kids the importance of telling the truth, of how to treat a spouse (even though there was no evidence of abuse from Johnny, getting into cussing fights isn’t healthy for a strong relationship), of how the law system works, of our basic rights as American citizens (they couldn’t understand why her lawyers didn’t quit when it’s obvious that she was lying on the stand), and the importance of building and maintaining a good reputation. I also reminded them of our beliefs, that Psalm 139:13-16 says that God created each and every one of us. On that basis alone, we should be praying for her, not mocking her. But that doesn’t mean accepting her lies. I also used the trial to teach them about forgiveness. It took several years, but I was eventually able to forgive my ex. That doesn’t mean that I can trust him. I pray that Johnny can do the same, just for his peace, so that he’s not eaten up by bitterness and hatred.

Domestic abuse is not just perpetuated against women & children. Men are often taunted if they admit to being abused by “the little women”. If they defend themselves physically they often go to jail. Emily's coverage of this trial has been phenomenal! Her legal expertise has really helped me understand how the court was processing the information coming in every day. I think that most people watched this trial so closely once they saw how egregiously Amber Heard was lying- not because they love Johnny Depp or celebrity in general.

Amber sat on the stand and said “I know how many people will support Johnny. That’s his power. That’s why I wrote the op-Ed.” So she admitted on the stand she wrote it about Johnny. And the jury heard that loud and clear.

To be fair, Johnny and his team had to fight to get cameras in the court room. AH didn't want this case to be televised at all. And in the US, unfortunately, a lot of cases that should be televised are not. The UK judge's son was co-workers with the guy who wrote the SUN article. How that did not disqualify him from being the judge of that case really confuses me.

What made me so interested in unable to stop watching was the fact that Amber heard could just keep blatantly lying like it was. just absolutely amazing. to see her face and then to hear her responses that came out of her mouth... absolutely jaw, dropping and insane. like you know, there are people out there that can't take accountability for their actions, but you just don't know to the extent that some people are willing to go to do just that... IN COURT at that I have been a huge Johnny Depp van since I was a child. so yes, the fact that it was him did make me very interested but when I started watching it, it was Amber heard's inability to escape her consequences, But yet still continuing to try and blame everyone else around her, including people who had testified.

Agreed!! There IS a difference between substance use, a substance use disorder and being a perpetrator of violence. If one uses substances or has a substance use disorder that does not automatically attribute them to being a perpetrator of violence. Many people can use substances, have a substance use disorder and NOT commit acts of violence. IF one has a substance use DISORDER then that ought to be handled with appropriate medical intervention as the evidence supports one's capacity has been severely compromised. Support for sufferers and caregivers of anyone with any disorder ought to be considered as a harm reduction approach so that if a spouse, parent friend, etc, has the fortitude to intervene, proper supports can be accessed. Mental health and addiction are not synonymous nor is substance user and perpetrator. Today was a win for many.

Johnny Depp since he was twenty worked consistently for almost 30 years. He’s been extremely polite and nice and his work ethic and ppl working with him always loved working with him. He’s never really done nothing wrong all these years he’s had relationships that were meaningful and lengthy devoted to his family wife and children throughout his 36 years. Even his exes had nothing bad to say about him. Usually when something like this happens people do come out and say things about issues that happened to them by this person, but no one had anything bad to say about home. His interviews his seeing children dressed as the pirate. He’s consistently led a pretty busy life. He’s worked hard for all those years. He’s an artist musician and actor and everyone loves bc he is genuine. Amber herd is so not genuine. Just watching her for a few minutes in clips you can tell she’s off and on with her who’s looking at me and is most like got personality problems. And ppl with personality issues generally do not know or care. She didn’t impress me not once.

Amber was the abuser, doing what abusers do: destroying lives. You're right, it didn't set any true survivors back. If anything it gave a much wider audience much needed insight into how you simply cannot judge a book by its cover and just how ugly domestic violence can be, for the real victims, which in this case was the man in the relationship. Also gotta say, this was not about celebrity. It was about a truly nasty, narcissistic but outwardly gorgeous woman telling such blatant, such grandiose lies that it simply left you in utter disbelief. The horrid acting on stand where she couldn't shed a tear to save her life. The obvious contradictions that she would not acknowledge. This was a big wake up call I think to just how insidious the manipulation is that comes from cluster B's. Johnny is lucky to have survived it tbh.

People were fascinated because so many saw their own life circumstances in the case. There's been copious stories coming out about how many people have been effected and devestated, especially in family court, by false allegations from their own abusers. These allegations have gone unquestioned and been held to no standard of proof. This was a small bit of justice that was experienced vicariously by a lot of people through the trial. Hopefully, the conversation will move to expose the family court system that incentivizes and and enables the false allegations with no accountability for perjury. This is how we got to this point in the 1st place. It all started in family court and we all saw just how far AH got before she was outed. There aren't many victims that have the resources JD does to clear their name for themselves, and their children.
