Last year's Spirit of Urbana Fall Edition, I was the only Passenger Conductor on the entire train. One hour decent sleep the night before, and a full train of passengers. I was dead on my feet the entire trip. At least the passengers were kind enough to understand the predicament I was in when I told them I had no fellow conductors to help me that day. Makes me tired thinking about it... Ugh!

@@JawTooth This was my second time there. Went last year in my "Mister Rogers Road Trip" video. So cool not only getting to see those old cars so well taken care of but to actually ride on them as well. Plus, on both trips, I got to see them shuffling cars around, and on Saturday, I even got to see their work crane running.

Wow..was not aware that there was a connection from the DT&I to Urbana...from where? The old DT&I (now I &O ) runs from Washington CH, through Springfield, St. Paris.and ultimately Detroit. The (now) partial Pennsy line (which used to run from Columbus, through Bradford to Union City, IN before abandonment in 1986) is also now owned by the I&O which connects to the north-south I &O (former Mad River and Lake Erie, later NYC) line connecting Belefontaine down to Springfield. My inspired guess is that the train in South Charleston was on the old DT&I and later connected to the former ML&LE leading to Urbana.

Hey Jaw , good morning to you ! Did you notice that the GP30 has a horizontal head light in its nose ? Could it be an X Southern Pacific or Cotton Belt GP30 ? If it is , It is truly rare find ! If it isn't SP or SSW it is still a rare find indeed ! Thank you for catching it ! Ewe da Man ! SP Lives !
@kevinbaker42415 жыл бұрын
JohnRobert Fox It was one of 10 built for the Nickel Plate Road in 1962, and one of three that still survive (two operating and one on display in Bellevue) today. Even I'm not sure why the light was placed in the nose that way, but what I do know is that NKP was the only railroad to have the bell recessed in the nose - something about keeping it clear of snow.
