I have a question. I notice punters may have the laces facing slightly to the left, or slightly to the right. What's the difference if the laces are facing slightly to the left, instead of the right?
@CoachChrisHusby5 жыл бұрын
- Y1 - it depends on if you are a right or left footed punter. Turning the ball inward allows you to better strike the fat part of the ball

- Y1 - different hang, sometimes distance and holding it different ways will add to the spiral

- Y1 - some punters punt the ball with the laces slightly turned out. They do this to avoid punting the seam of the ball and punt more panel.

how many reps should i do for all of these exercises
@CoachChrisHusby4 жыл бұрын
Raj Patel as many as you’d like. Some guys do 10 reps. Some walk the whole width of the field

What do you recommend on the style of the kick

I would need some clarity on what kick you are talking about. Please contact me at coachhusby@gmail.com to discuss further.

How important is it to keep your left hand off during the drop and what is the purpose behind that motion?
@CoachChrisHusby4 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Ballenger yes. Take you counter hand off the ball by your last step. You don’t want to be holding onto the ball with both hand as you are swinging up and through the ball.

Got a question. Do you think I should drop the ball the the laces straight up and and down or the laces at a angle like you?
@justintaylor44127 жыл бұрын
Straight up
@CoachChrisHusby6 жыл бұрын
Straight up. Turn the nose of the ball slightly inward at an 11 or 10 o'clock angle if you are a right footed punter, or 1 or 2 o'clock if you are a lefty.

It also depends on what kind of style you like but yes laces out

It doesn’t really matter either way. A lot of the pros drop with laces at an angle. Some say it’s to hit more of the panel and not where they meet.

I dont think i can do walk and drop without actually kicking it lol
@CoachChrisHusby7 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the feedback. If you are able to control your leg from swinging, it would show that you are developing great leg control, which should help your punting overall.

@Couch Not even. I see possibly 1 MAYBE 2 effective drills here.
@PigeonMan50004 жыл бұрын
@Couch You don't punt from a kneeling position, so why practice from that position? You can practice the drop from a more natural punting position (Standing). I don't think the semi lunge ball drop drill is worthwhile either because you don't catch the ball in the position and there's more involved mechanically to even get to that point. It seems exaggerated. The short step ball drop seems like a better route to go in my opinion because you actually catch the ball and then take your steps and follow with the drop. That's the mechanics of punting. I get that this is trying to get you to the point where you put it all together, but I think this is just filler crap to make a video. The last drill is a waste. Why practice catching the ball, going through the steps, placing the ball out like you're going to kick it, only to move it out of the way as you kick your leg? That completely undoes everything you just practiced!
