Cool video on one of my favourite species.Thanks. You are the wrong way round though about their classification. They used to be considered as Rasbora but have since been reclassified as a Danionins, hence "Danio Margaritatus". Can't believe how pricey they are over there. They cost £3.50 to £4.50 over here in the UK.

I rescued a single male from a local Petco. He was the only one left in the tank, he looked healthy, and I worried that he'd probably get sick and die if left there. They haven't gotten any more healthy CPDs in since unfortunately, but he's absolutely thriving in the heavily planted 29g.

Day 1-3 is methylene blue and each day adding the eggs, but then need time to hatch and become free-swimming in the tub before moving them to a 2ft tank. So still unsure, my thought is to do small water changes to dilute out the methylene blue.

Nice video. I have some experience with Danio's as well. I disagree on the minimum number of 6. They are definitely not happy in such a small group. I think you should keep them in groups of at least 15. With these numbers they are a lot more happy. Low numbers don't do the fish any good.

Try to have *at least* 50% water from the main tank into your breeding tank. Do water changes as needed also with the water from the main tank. Many people are telling that they lost many fries by adding new uncycled water. Then you top off the missing water in the main tank with tap. That's what I've read...
@ollie83142 жыл бұрын
I have a group of 8 in a heavily planted 20g with other small community fish. I wasn't able to sex them at the store but for the first few weeks I figured out I had about 4 males, 4 females. Now a few months later, I am pretty sure that number is 5 males 3 females. It is definitely male heavy in the tank, and I doubt that is ideal since the males are absolutely bonkers, always showing off and sparring with each other. In my experience in a planted tank with a small group and other fish out and about they aren't shy at all. With the sex ratio I have they are far from that, and are the busiest and most active fish in the tank.

Can I make a recommendation? They tend to be a shy quiet fish, so adding lots of widely spaced plant cover around the tank will increase confidence and encourage more activity. You didnt mention who they might be in we with but that is a factor as well. Also watch for high nitrates which can cause the same behavior.
