I believe the last dorm I stayed at in college had the classics for the most part, ceiling and wall mount. I've noticed a ceiling mount advance in a couple spots of the dorm that may have replaced a previous classic device at a time!

My school has both of these. Along with 3 Simplex Mechanical Horn Strobes. One being in the Chorus room, and 2 being backstage in the Auditorium.

Weren’t the spectralert advances made in 2006? Also, I had spectralert advances in my old school. And in my current school, there is 1 weatherproof spectralert advance. Inside are simplex truealerts.

I live in Chicago and my old Elementary/Middle school has Spectralert Advances however at my High school has mostly Simplex devices majority being Truealerts and 4900s however there's only one L series and one Integrity.

September 30 2016 i was sitting in class like right in front of a spectralert classic and some kid pulled the fire alarm and it went off right behind me and it was loud

I like the sound of the classic better than the advance. The classic sounds better in the advance sounds terrible. i believe the spectre alert classic was introduced in 1997 & was discontinued in 2007 & replaced with the advance that doesn’t sound as loud as the classic which sounds better. the classic was popular with schools and used for their routine fire drills all over canada & the united states
