Spectrum Sent Me New Equipment So I'm Running A Speed Test On It

spectrum employee here, the new equipment is made by 3 different manufactures. So technically not made by us but contracted to those companies. And also do not rely on console speedtests, they are inaccurate for a multitude of reasons. The top reasons being that they test for a very short duration and only use specific servers that the console manufacture has. Interesting ethernet setup you got going on, keep it up.

LAN cables, network cards, network switches, hubs, Wi-Fi routers, even the specific Ethernet connector-end ALLL affect your speeds. I totally got rid of all my network connections in my house and reinstalled all new Cat7 cables with gold plated connectors… made the BIGGEST difference. And, instead of my satellite units/mesh units being 5ghz backhauled, I ran dedicated cat7 backhauls to them. And HUUUGE difference.

Hi, I may be able help you save money! I was in the same situation as you. I bought a Netgear Nighthawk router and then connected a 2nd router to that as a repeater in the furthest corner of my house to act as a repeater. (Modem -> NighthawkRouter -> RepeaterRouter) This allowed me to have 3 WiFi networks: MyHome (main router), MyHome5G (main router) and MyHomeRepeater. Devices that needed a hard wired connection I bought a 100ft Cat5 cable, other devices that connected via WiFi connected to the Wifi network that is nearest and/or Ghz frequencies. A Repeater might save you a full bill and you get to keep the speed! Good luck!!!

Test for buffer-bloat, Waveform has a test you can run. After running the test, see if the router(s) you are using have QOS and set the PS5 up higher in priority. One of the main causes relates to Jitter (variation in latency over time). Reduce this and you'll see a better experience overall with gaming/streaming. The lower upload speed with Spectrum sucks but given you get more than 8 mbps you still should be able to stream at 1080P 60fps.

your speeds are definitely much better but if you want to kill faster and/or have more smooth gameplay you need to have your ping as low as possible close to 0as possible then you will feel a massive advantage in online games if thats what you want better internet for cool vid btw.

I have a single family home that used to be a 2 family home (up and down). It's very big. The internet quality in my neighborhood used to be terrible when it was just AT&T and the local company. Once the local company shutdown Spectrum was allowed in. Range extenders didn't really help. Until we got spectrum we had to have 2 internets (1 up, 1 down) in order to get good quality.

Hey man I just got this combo about a month ago as well, I use internet mainly for my Xbox and phone. But here lately I’ve been getting high ping issues, I used to run 30-40 now It’s 70-80. They came out today and replaced the coax to the power pole, said the one to the house tested good, installed the same set again. Shows on his scanner my ping is 32ms. Idk if it’s Microsoft or this router. I’m about willing to pay someone to help me fix this problem. If anybody else has ran through this please help a man out

I have been using this company for about 7 years without any problems. Later, when I added a mobile phone, they asked me to change the box, and then they asked me to change my account. After that, the Internet continued to be abnormal. Finally, I found out that the problem was with the box of these contractors, and they replaced it. The Internet speed that is not displayed is 500mbps. I have 5 mobile phones at home and I can’t see it all the time.

Don’t believe this new box. I have experienced it. They asked me to replace it with a new one and it will make you slower and slower. It only reaches about 200mbps after installing 500mbps. It’s funny that they asked me to spend more money to upgrade.

Megabytes (MB) and Megabits(Mb) are different. Megabits are 1/8 of a MegaByte. Meaning if you get 800 Mbps download speed it's actually 100 MegaBytes a second. 8 bits make 1 byte. Don't feel dumb, I used to say that, too. ha. The internet providers want to use bit speeds to make their internet seem faster. Whicch sounds better 100 or 800, right?
