@badtracking- Yes Jason was the one that could sing....better guitar player too by miles. But of course Pete had no illusions in that dept. and is testament to what a creative mind can achieve. Creative ideas and vision are important too. If craft were everything, we'd all be listening to Joe Satriani . Eddie van Halen is a better guitarist than Johnny Marr. Led Zep are better musicians than Kraftwerk. I know what records I want to listen to! REPLY

@JosefRosam5 жыл бұрын
i agree with you to some degree, but what someone's idea of what a great musician is, is completely subjective, some would say that it is technical ability, others would say that it is the ability to play with, and not AT their band mates! ;)
@theshamanarchist54415 жыл бұрын
Led Zeppelin are for pretentious rock w@nkers anyway, so who gives a fook about technical ability? I used to dig Teenage Fanclub, back in the day and my mums husbands son used to attempt to mock me by saying 'but they only play 3 chords'. And what did that c#nt listen to? Madonna and George Michael! Says it all really....

Well said. And it's not like Jason's got a great voice (and his stuff since 'Ladies...' is mediocre' - and none of it was as good as Spacemen3.)

very good point about Jason been the better singer and guitairst.. Sonic Boom's work is more visionary and I've always admired him more for that. I couldn't see Jason's work for example having Kevin Martin aka the bug with him for example

This is somewhere in Oslo, Norway - maybe in the Groove (a music newspaper/website of some sorts) headquarters (where ever that is/was). The date is most likely towards the end of October 2010 because a video of this performance was uploaded to Grooves official Vimeo on the 31st of October and an article about this performance was published on the 2nd of November. Also, Spectrum had a gig in Sub Scene, Oslo on the 20th of October. Spectrum was doing an interview to groove after the gig and they were asked to take part in Grooves "Rastløs" concert series. Peter asked the guitarist (Jason Holt) if he was familiar with the song, he was and they performed it. I think they only played one song but we might never know for sure.
@subscenekalender996218 күн бұрын
It was at the backstage at Sub Scene before the show:) I booked the show and was there and it's my little fleamarket casio keyboard he's playing. They only recorded this song (and they played it during the show afterwards also).. Pete had played it at a benefit show for Natty Brooker earlier that year, so that's why they brought it up again here.

I walked with Jesus and he would say "Oh you poor child, you ain't coming to me, no way You found heaven on Earth, gonna burn for your sin" But I think I'll be in good company down there with all my friends Well, I got around to thinking about what Jesus said to me Cause if heaven's like this then that's the place for me Long, long time between now and my death And I've gotta have my fun so I've chosen what's best Well, here it comes Here comes the sound The sound of confusion The sound of love So listen sweet Lord, forgive me my sins Cause I can't stand this life without all of these things Know I done wrong But I've found heaven on Earth Know I done wrong But I could've done me worse Well, here it comes Here comes the sound The sound of confusion Well, here it comes Here it comes Here it comes The sound of love The sound of love The sound of love Jesus, please meet me at the centre of the earth Cause these wings are gonna fail me And I could have done me worse Yeah, I could've done me worse Yeah, I could've done me worse

@badtracking - that's a bit harsh. peter obviously has a more limited range and can go a bit flat but considering that this is an impromptu acoustic session in a backstage room with no mic, it is IMO one of the best versions of this song, as @cappin said, since the spacemen 3 era. i saw jason play this song at the TLA in philadelphia this past month and it really had nothing on the integrity of this stripped-down version (not to say that the overall performance wasn't far, far more mind-blowing)
@mmeditatio5 жыл бұрын
jason had to try hard to force a semblance of the kind of soul that pete has naturally--hence spectrum's minimalism and spiritualized's maximalism. add 10 more background singers and a horn section, jason, you'll eventually get that trance that pete gets with a single keyboard, i'm sure!

Casio SK-1 I think. It was their (possibly first) little sampler aimed at the home rather than stage market. 1 second of sample time but as you can hear in this vid really quite capable. You can pick them up easy enough but steadily rising in value. Really cool little keyboard.

Pete sang this on "Sound of Confusion", right? This really isn't too different than the original, just replace the acoustic guitar with a electric, add some fuzz, drums, and blammo! Comparing it to Jason's arrangement nowadays, I prefer Pete's version here.
