I loved and respected Adv. Nani Palkhiwala for his dedication to justice, liberty and constitutional freedoms so much that whenever I hear his recorded speeches (which are few) my eyes are full of tears. I am lucky that I heard his as many speeches as possible delivered anywhere Mumbai in those golden years. Whosoever has any video speeches of him is requested to upload them.

Why Maharashtra has maximum High Court Bench? It is because this State produced Nani Palkhivala, Soli J Sorabjee, Harish Salve, Fali Sam Nariman, MC Chagla and many other such legal luminaries! UP had no such and therefore just one Bench and here also Motilal Nehru, Lord Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Shanti Bhushan, Prashant Bhushan and many others all from Eastern UP and no wonder Eastern UP has both High Court and a single HC Bench within distance of just 200 kilometres! Is this the way to respect Article 14 of Constitution? The people of West UP have to travel whole night and half day all the way not even till Lucknow where Bench is located but horrifyingly right up till Allahabad to seek justice! Why Nani Palkhivala never said a word on why a peaceful State like Maharashtra from which he hails, from which the incumbent CJI Dr Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud hails and so also his predecessor UU Lalit hails have maximum High Court Bench and UP has just one Bench and that too even for undivided UP and so close to Allahabad where High Court itself is located at Lucknow famously called Nawab City due to which people of hilly areas had to most stupidly, shamelessly and senselessly travel all the way not even till Lucknow where Bench is located but horrifyingly thousands of kilometres all the way right uptill Allahabad to seek justice and it is Allahabad High Court which tops in having maximum pending cases still just one Bench and so close to Allahabad!
