Dangdut is originally from Indonesia, but because of popularity of the contest and similarities to traditional music in other ASEAN countries, now ASEAN countries also joining in. (Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines). It is aired in those countries. Nowadays, Dangdut has a lot of form and mix with other genres. This particular song already mixed with Sundanese style (nyinden/sinden). Sunda is one of Indonesian ethnic groups in Indonesia. The original version doesn't have the "Sundanese part." Oh most songs in this competition are Indonesian songs as there more Dangdut songs from Indonesia, obviously. So even non-Indonesian speakers contestants need to learn it.

0:55 Guys that's wrong, Bahasa Indonesia ( Indonesian ) and Bahasa Melayu ( Malay ) are mutually intelligible so people who speak Indonesian would understand 60-70% of Malay. While Javanese ( Bahasa Jawa ) are completely different language and not just dialects but Completely different set of word and rule so it's stand as their own language that separate from Bahasa Indonesia ( Indonesian) and Bahasa Melayu ( Malay ) so No, people who speak Indonesian and people who speak Malay would not understand Javanese and thats the reason why Music and Entertainment industry in Indonesia used Bahasa Indonesia because it was Lingua franca who all of Indonesian People knows since Bahasa Indonesia ( Indonesian) was the National Language and Malaysian would also understand the language. While Javanese is regional language that spoke by Javanese people only and not the national language so Indonesian Music Industri would not used Javanese if the target audience is the whole nation and Malaysia. That what we call DANGDUT genre of music. An folklore music genre in Indonesia that has an influence from Arab, Melayu & India. Before very popular with lower class people but now it has gone up in class & almost every class in Indonesia even international , loves it. And the other one is a traditional Sundanese ( west Java ) music & language. There are 38 provinces. Each of them has their own folk music, cultures, languages etc. But all united by one language : Bahasa Indonesia ( Indonesian Language). And Indonesia is very big, as big as the whole Europe.

1st dangdut competition is in indonesia this competition had a vision to makes this genre becomes upscale bcs lately indonesian music is more like westernish?? n even more Kpop-ish?? so some of them like a senior singer n musician who are specialize for dangdut wanna makes this genre feels alive again like the old times, bcs this is origin from indonesia. so they doesnt wanna this style is gone. n voilla there's dangdut academy (dangdut singing competition like indonesian idol but specificly in dangdut genre n singing) actually there's 2 channel of TV who had dangdut competition but the one who sustained until now is dangdut academy . n then this show n the competition had a good attention from malaysia, brunei n surround. bcs they love it. they had similarity of this genre because malaysianese blood related. n then they're expanding the competition in malaysia brunei etc . and lately this competition opened up on more scales, who are not just closer side by side such as malaysia, brunei etc, but thailand philipines, singapore got their attention n there's a lot contestant who tried in this genre even most of them based on POP genre style of vocals but they wanna try n learning of this dangdut. . dangdut style vocal is superior on the "cengkok" like a runs but not simple run in pop or ballad idk how to explain it on english but yeah they called it "cengkok dangdut" and it's hard . beside of dangdut. indonesia folk genre had keroncong as well actualy bunch of follks bcs we had so much diverse n bunch of island but the popular one is dangdut n keroncong

Lesti is like the Queen of Dangdut. Every song he sings can make us shiver and even cry at the same time. Then there was Melly who was now following him. Their voices even feel very similar. And Melly idolized Lesti before the audition. They are two very talented people who are something we are proud of.

Malay and Malaysia it's not always belong .. Malay is tribe, while Malaysia is country.. Indonesia also have Sumatra Malay .. Dangdut is combination of Indian, Arab, Malay, Western and Local Indonesian instruments like from Javanese or Sundanese instrument. What you heard is from Sundanese style of singing and also added Sundanese instrument like "Angklung" from bamboo. There are many style of dangdut in Indonesia .. but the beat is always recognized by the vocal technique wise from the singer itself. But hei, Dangdut also famous in Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and South Thailand.

yes, that competition was Dangdut Academy Asia Season 6 (2023), where Melly Lee (who doesnot wear hijab) winning the competition just a couple weeks ago, Dangdut Academy Asia invite singers from 8 countries to compete in indonesia. The 8 countries were Indonesia, Malaysia, Philipines, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Timor Leste and Turkiye. and fyi too, Lesti was a runner up Dangdut Academy Asia Season 1, and now she becomes indonesia's young diva in Dangdut Genre

"the ringing" at the background is "ANGKLUNG" The angklung is a musical instrument from the Sundanese people in Indonesia made of a varying number of bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame.
