Speed and Size Masters

what is the difference between rate grand master and rate master...I used a rate master on a show but everytime I take my level to zero I would loose all my static scene positions...they would take the last position of the effect i stoped with the rate master...why is that

One is for the size of the effect and one is for the speed of the effect

In what mode do i need to record my playback in order to use the rate master ? Record channel or fixture ?

It depends what you want recorded on that playback. The rate master will work with the fx information
