Painting the bubble blocks different colours actually helps with the physics so the 60 sec one would actualy work if you just painted it 4 bloks a colour (make sure the same colours are not adjacent to eachother) i think dr pixel has a video about it For example if you have a 2×1 bubble block and paint 1 green and the other red then trough them into the water, then the game will register them as two completely different blocks just like if u had a bubble block attached to a t3 wooden block

And if you are interested in the physics based stuff then you should go check him out, he does a lot of other stuff

I know Scrapman has a consistent schedule for Multiplayer Monday, I just wish we got it twice a week cause it's just really fun to watch, especially since Chapter 2 has not been released yet. Can't wait for Chapter 2.

I think the stability problem you were having with your 5 minute boat may have been similar to the one you ran into with that YDIB rocket sled. The rocket sled's friction was focused on the front wheel which was causing it to turn 180 degrees because that was the direction of least resistance, so I think the extra weight on the front of the 5 minute boat was causing it to rotate to one side or the other because the thrust coming from the back of the boat is basically trying to "push" that weight when it really wants to be "pulled"

24:23 I was wondering the whole time what causes the issue, but when you said "it's like a car that doesn't have grip on the rear" I realized that probably the problem is that all of the thrusters are at the back, while the front is really heavy because of the wedges. This means that the wedges want to hold back the boat by a lot, because they're heavy, and not really buoyant, while the thrusters are trying to push the boat forward from the back. It's kinda similar when you try to hold back a small RC car (RWD) by putting your finger infront of it. It looses grip, and because the block is uneven, it slides to one side. In this case the easiest fix is to lower the power of the thrusters, or make the back heavier/less buoyant. I'm not a physician, in fact I'M gute bad at physics, so my explanation is probably nosense, but I think this is the issue

That one minute build looks really useful for early survival game glue clam harvesting. I might actually try to use that. Grab some oil as you go and you can refuel it, too!

you should do a version of this challenge where you build for 2 minutes, and then build off of that for 4 minutes, and then build off of THAT for 6 minutes. So you have a 2 minute build, a 6 minute build, and a 12 minute build.

By the way scrap man, I really like the concept of you doing upside down boats or an upside down vehicle. In general you actually kind of started one in this one and it was really cool looking. to take the stress off! maybe you should get rid of the one minute set up on this series and just go from five minutes to half an hour and then into an hour?

i think a speed build challenge for multiplayer with kAN and MoonBoob would have a lot of potential, take ideas from fans, randomly pull the idea from a hat or something, from that moment you all have 3 minutes to just wing it and get it done, below the floor is explosives that detonate 2-3 seconds after the time runs out so you have to get your creation out from there before that or you lose.

That upside down camera was really cool! Makes me think, if there were some underwater civilisation (like Atlantis often is in fantasy), they could build boats like that to function as a sort of airplane or hot air balloon.

I feel the 30 minute 'Scrap Manta' boat has the best aesthetics and best function. Sadly, none of the boats have an option to go in reverse. Though in practicality it would lose, as the fuel consumption and cost to build would be outrageous in story mode.

The turning on your second boat is from being front heavy, it resists movement in water more in the front and acts like a pivot point when the thrusters push on it. It's essentially mimicking the effects of more friction in the front.

2:30 I think this happens because Scrap Mechanic calculates all of the bubble block as a single bouyant object, this is why you see people dividing their boats into several separate sections of bubble with another material in between

It'd be neat to see who could make the best automated turret. You could use sensors that detect red blocks and then everyone has to use (or make) a vehicle out of red blocks. Make the vehicles forklifts (or something) and set the turrets next to some item you want to take. Whoever gets the items the fastest wins.

For the 30 minute boat, you could just build half of the boat and then duplicate the second half and make the center point 2 blocks wide.

before survival this was the closest you could get to measurements. the number values is measured in wood blocks. Wood: 1 Concrete: 2 Tile: 2 Brick: 4.8ish Metal: 5 Driver Seat: 145 Passenger Seat: 100 Thruster: 17 Electric Engine: 60 (same density as metal) Gas Engine: 40 (same density as metal)

im wondering if it has anything to do with the fact theres suspension glitch turning causing your boat to go one way or the other im guessing based on which thruster gets the faster response to turning on.

About the weird turning effect you experienced at 9:40. True, there's no aerodymics, but there is drag in the water. I assume that drag is calculated in the same way as buoyancy, where the game applies it to each block of homogeneous material. But "wedge" is a different material than wood. And also, your bow is made up of many individual rectangles of wood, while your stern is basically 5 long pieces of the same material. And I guess the game doesn't correctly scale drag with the size of the rectangle, to the point where the drag from many small pieces is larger than that of the same amount of material in a single rectangle.

Scrap man, the reason the second boat turns is because the center of thrust is in the back, wouldn’t that spin it around without proper stabilisation, plus the front is heavier therefore fighting the thrusters

You should start a community series called "What Happens If...?" and users within your Discord community comment things you could try out and you would be a "mythbuster" per say. You would test out these theories and see what happens when different things are attempted or even changed for an attempt. Maybe something called "What Happens Wednesday" 🤔

so basically, when you build a shape out of blocks in scrap mechanic it divides the shape to a bunch of bigger cubes and the buoyancy is calculated at the center of the bigger cubes so you didnt really have to place those plastic blocks in the 30min build

I built a boat in about maybe under 10 minutes and is is so fast and stable the tiles barely have time to load and I can fly it as a plane (not a good plane but still awesome for a speed boat lol)
