I don't really have room on my layout for full square buildings, so I really enjoy finding ways to split them and gain two for the price of one. But I also like adding on to background buildings too, so they're not too flat. Cheers

Great build/kitbash Jason! Love your channel, glad your kit business seems to be booming... Also interesting to see your progression of modeling skills. Glad to see that you've taken to spray painting your plastic windows, so much easier than brush painting them with those thick acrylic craft paints. One nitpick if I may be so bold... When you install a rooftop stairway/stairwell access on the roof of a structure, keep in mind it's position relative to the nearest outside wall. On this kitbash, if you draw an imaginary line along what would be the path of the staircase, several of the bottom steps would be outside the outside wall of the structure. Takes away a bit of the realism, not all that different to some of the structures you see from the various kit manufacturers, where they have all these crazy overhangs of the second floor, that no carpenter in his right mind would build. Keep up the great work! Hope you're doing OK in light of all the recent crisis' you've been having in your life.

Thanks, Jason. Great reminder on how one can think outside the (kit) box. They both came out great, I can't wait to see it once the steel pier is in place.

Loved your latest YT video. It is so inspirational seeing how your vision turned 1 kit into 2 structures. Then taking what you have, ageing them through staining, dry brushing and stippling with a sponge, giving both structures a new identity. I saw glimses of the old you from when you first started this channel. Just awesome. Keep it up and take care of yourself. Mike

Great build, as always! Seems like the perfect spot for an homage to the Blues Brothers’ apartment building (pre-bazooka attack, of course). Thanks for another chance to watch your work unfold, it’s inspiring!

Great video as always, Jason! I'm going to try some speed building myself, since I think I'm the slowest modeler ever. I love how that skyline is coming along, and the Cracker Jack building really does pop out.

Great video Jason, thank you! I forget how much I enjoy building structures and then I watch one of your vids and I'm ready to build another structure!

Iv been watching for a while now and will be soon starting a N scale build in the new house we just moved into. I would love more on the N scale - I will be applying some of your technique to it . Any information on N scale kits that you have tried and are of higher quality would be appreciated. Glad to see you back after such a rough spell.

Really enjoyed this kitbash project, FosScale makes some fantastic kits. Looking forward more kits from JJT! Any chance you will attend the CO RPM next year?

Jason, enjoy all of your videos, including this one. I always learn something new and/or am refreshed on something I once knew and have forgotten. You mentioned using detail parts from a kit and that you used one of your own (great parts BTW). What was your source of the other detail parts and who do you recommend for details generally, other than the ones you sell, of course? Thanks. John

Cool video, Jason. I'm currently planning an overhead track with the same subway cars and was wondering what track radius you are using?

Those are nice builds Jason. Interesting techniques that explains how fast they were built. I like the color schemes of both buildings and you’re right about so many other details that you could do to dress them up even more if desired. Nice video!

when you run the trains, (like today) the switchers and shorter 40 footers rolling stock look so much better than the larger engines etc...they just fit the era and dont dwarf the surrounding buildings.

I’ve learned so many techniques from you and always look forward to more. You seem to have a never ending supply of new ideas. Thanks for your continued posts.

Thanks again. I liked how you made two buildings out of one. I am still learning different techniques. I admire that you tried something different from your usual style. I have done staining first and painting first. I think each technique has its place in the modeling world. I am always psyched after your videos. Love them.

Here’s a comment for the algorithm Jason 😊. Really love what you and Doug create. We don’t have anything like it here in Europe.

Hi Jason, glad to see you back and in good form! I'm replying in regards to a couple of videos you posted earlier this year about river barges. You mentioned childhood memories with your Grandfather watching river traffic on the Mississippi and how it would be neat to have several barges lashed together on a layout. I am curious, what town was that? I'm in the planning stages of a Dubuque Iowa themed layout that will prominently feature the river. Shortly after the video i bought of your 2 HO scale barges and never properly thanked you for them!

Great video. I was wondering if you were going to paint the streets and add some sidewalks soon. On the lower level, a steam engine might be something to add to the train

A little paint on that door hinge and it would not be so prominent.

$78.50 for that kit? It is a couple sheets of balsa or MDF and a couple plastic windows. If so, wow, the model railroad stuff is expensive! I do Dungeons and Dragons oriented stuff as 28mm scale, and the cost is way cheaper for a similar amount of stuff.

Hello Jason, we’re can someone order sheets of the clapboard wood. I’m interested in scratch building and kit bashing. Thanks in advance
@70rrsteve513 күн бұрын
Fast Tracks sells sheets from Mt. Albert Scale lumber. Northeastern sells sheets too. Evergreen styrene is available if you want to use plastic sheet instead of wood. All are available with assorted siding sizes.
