Ultimately, Hikaru and Magnus are so much stronger than anyone else that you need almost miracle (like MVL victory over Carlsen 3 years ago...) to avoid a final between them, when both participate.

@zEcho1
@zEcho1 Жыл бұрын
The thing is, these “blunders” from Hikaru is mostly him missing a top engine line. If Fabic can’t find the crazy move sequence then he’s just equal or straight worse (which is what mostly happened this match). So he isn’t exactly blundering in a bad way most people would.

I don't understand what's the point of stalling the clock when you're up by six going into the bullet segment where you're clearly one of the best players in the world. I get it when players do it in order to not lose the match, it's a legitimate strategy, nothing against it. But Hikaru wasn't close to losing at any point of the match. So what was the reason of this, I'm still struggling to understand.

Your curiosity is well founded because as you point out it doesn't make sense. That is, it doesn't make sense until you come to understand that he's the most disgusting individual to ever play the game. He has a career of pulling these unpleasant stunts to antagonise players. I'm not in the least bit surprised, completely true to form.
@essaysandmore
@essaysandmore Жыл бұрын
Since there is an overarching timer, Hikaru stands to gain an advantage from stalling, especially when he's winning. The more time is lost during comfortable games, the less time Fabi has to get a new, more favourable position. I guess what @Mac-mv4lo is referencing is that it also gives him a psychological edge because it can be very frustrating for the other player to be stuck in these positions. So they become more prone to making mistakes.

@@CosyBrew you still live in 2010? Hikaru has change in recent years and he got better in terms of personality. He becomes more humble and accept the fact that there is someone who is better than him in chess (magnus), you talking like people couldn't change for the rest of their life. Speaking of antagonize other player magnus also have been doing the same thing to hans by accussed him of cheating without solid evidence yet y'all likes to lick his boot and pretends that he is a saint. The morally empty vessel that is Hikaru strikes again with the most shameful stalling tactics you're likely to see. How far the chess community has fallen to see that such an individual has amassed a fanbase. Truly defies belief.
@builderphill1361
@builderphill1361 Жыл бұрын
People love to see someone win consistently, it's why Magnus and hikaru have such good fan bases. "Such an individual" is one of the best players of all time in quick time controls with increment. Why do you hate so much?
@renx81
@renx81 Жыл бұрын
"Stalling tactics" is not even a thing in chess. What he did there is called "match strategy". Perfectly within the rules of the game, and his opponent would be the first to agree. The fact that you choose to focus on that aspect of this match only goes to show your obvious bias. How about all the amazing feats he pulled off, beating one of the greatest players of all time using only dubious openings? Does that not "defy belief" as well? The answer is simple - of course it does, but in a good way. As opposed to the one dirty strategy you choose to focus on.
@CosyBrew
@CosyBrew Жыл бұрын
@@renx81 Keep using the utterly pathetic "match strategy" excuse. The great strategy that no one else ever pulls in such a shameful way. Despite his desperate attempts to play the "Magnus does it too card", it's always this low life that does it to this egregious level. Was it match strategy when he pulled the same stunt when he had a 10-1 lead against Fedoseev a few years back? Was that the match strategy you talk of? Embarrass yourself and try and defend that one. Why would someone use such a 'strategy' against underdogs who he knows, by his own admission, have almost no chance in the bullet sections. He does it because he loves to antagonise people, he's done it his whole career. You're another delusional apologist for the morally bankrupt.
