Hi Alena, thank you for this video! One small suggestion - if you could just show the color name to the camera before you use it, that would be very useful! Especially for the colors (like for the fish and other small details) that you didn't list in the beginning of the video. I like watching your videos and think your work is just beautiful! I hope you keep making videos.

Absolutely fantastically beautiful! This is one of my favorite images in this book, but have not started it for being undecided about the colors. This tutorial has inspired me to go ahead with this one. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

So beautiful! I love the colors you choose to put together. Thanks you for sharing this tutorial with us. Did you also use watercolor pens?
@ColoringwithAlena8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! Unfortunately I don't own any watercolor pens (like ZIGs or Aquamarkers). I have derwent Colorsoft pencils, watercolor pencils by Marco and Koh-i-Noor, Inktense pencils, Faber-Castell Pitt pens and some Copics. And on this picture I used Inktense pencils, watercolor pencils Marco Renoir and Pitt pens

Thank you! But it was really easy because Kerby Rozanes already put shadows on the objects, and it helps a lot.

That is just beautiful! My book came today so I was so glad to see this video!! And, glad to learn that the inktense pencils don't bleed through with water!! May I ask what brush you used in this? I have 4 and they ALL drip out TOO much water!! Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but, I can't see why at least one of them would work!! I have the full set of inktense but haven't used them yet on a picture, just practiced with them some but, I LOVE how you used teyhm on the waves and whale, and a few other things! Thanks for the video, and if you have a name or link to the brush, I might as well try it too and see if works OK!! It seemed to be doing just fine for you!

Nancy I use Zig waterbrushes: Medium (www.amazon.com/Zig-WSBR02-Medium-Watercolor-Brush/dp/B004XIUVR2/ref=pd_sim_201_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B004XIUVR2&pd_rd_r=1MH6EYXKD8VVREWWRAP3&pd_rd_w=UZMsY&pd_rd_wg=AlL7Y&psc=1&refRID=1MH6EYXKD8VVREWWRAP3) and Small (www.amazon.com/Zig-WSBR01-Detailer-Watercolor-Brush/dp/B004XIUVLS/ref=pd_sim_229_5?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B004XIUVLS&pd_rd_r=BMCH1T823N2B0JXZ5W05&pd_rd_w=Mt3ia&pd_rd_wg=qIt7b&psc=1&refRID=BMCH1T823N2B0JXZ5W05) It was a gift and I really love them! They never leak, sometimes I even have to squeeze a lot to get more water.

Just making another brush recommendation! I have a Zig one, which is my second-favorite, but the brush I actually use most is a Derwent water brush. I like the smallest one as it's controlled enough for teeny areas but still flexible enough for larger ones. Sometimes it gets too wet, but if I just wipe it off on a paper towel or piece of paper it's fine after that.

Hi do you remember how long it took you to color the picture. It is beautiful. I don’t have the other watercolor pencils that you used but I have a different kind and I will try to find matches. I have trouble with the inktense pencils smearing so I am trying to figure that out. Keep coloring your work is amazing

Thank you! Usually I need from 2 to 4 hours to complete any picture from any book. 2 hours if I use watercolors or Inktenses, 4 - if I use Prismacolor pencils. So I guess I spent about 3 hours on this picture.

Hi, I know you listed the colors before the video for the ocean and at the end for each part, but it's irrelevant if you don't show them to us before you color each part. For example, on the whale's tale, you listed that you used deep indigo, iron blue and payne's grey, but when you were coloring it, I thought you went payne's grey, switched to iron blue (because I slowed it down and took a screenshot of your pencil), then switched to deep indigo at one point when it was really still iron blue, which I noticed when you switched again to do shadows. I don't understand why you guys that make tutorials take ALL this time to make them, but can't take an extra 2 seconds in between switching colors to show us what color it is. Inktense pencils are all the same color and the blue's are so close in color before activated so it's impossible to tell what you're using unless you show it to us. I love your videos but I tend not to watch them anymore because I know I'm not gonna know what color to use for each part.

Whose water brush are you using please? I think I have everyone there is to have but yours looks different. I swore I would never buy another one because they all seem to flood the brush. Thank you.

I'm using Kuretake-ZIG water brushes - detailed and medium. I think they are great, at least they never leak, and the water dosage is excellent.www.amazon.com/ZIG-Water-Colour-System-BrusH20/dp/B007N2OYEQ/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1476662643&sr=8-14&keywords=Kuretake+Water+Brush+Pen
