The new clamps didn’t leak. It was leaking in the area that we DIDNT use the better clamps. This was explained multiple times throughout the video. Of course that was remedied years ago by spending $40 on the better clamps about 4 days after making these videos. 😉

It has a Borla axleback. And the stepped clamps I recommend are linked in the video description and are cheaper and seal better than the ones at the non-stepped ones auto parts store.

If you are still having trouble finding those band clamps go to your local semi truck shop, 90% of a semi trucks exhaust is held together with those style clamps, they should have them on hand by the dozens!

Thanks brother. Great tip because they usually only keep a couple of each size in hand at the auto stores. I think I’m just gonna go ahead and weld the four rear slip fittings up though.
@OnlyDigs6 жыл бұрын
I just got mine SE headers in today, I've been working on installing them all night and into the morning. Sadly, it seems my luck isn't as good as yours when it comes to fitment. The passenger side header directly sits against an AC line, and the end of the collector runs into the side wall below the torque tube, so I can't slide the mid pipe or clamp on. Have you had any issues with the passenger header hitting this AC line? (The one with heat shielding around it from the factory). I'm not too sure what I should do now except for contact Speed Engineering and see if I can hopefully exchange just the passenger header, as everything else seems ok so far. As far as getting them in, mine didn't just slide right in like yours did either, we fought with it for about 20 minutes until we realized we'd have to disconnect the steering shaft and some ground wires on the drivers side, and disconnect the starter wires on the passenger side. Not a big deal and still fairly easy install. Also, my collectors were both heavily dented like your passager side was. I heard nothing but great things about the fitment and quality of these headers, besides the shitty clamps that is. But I have to say, I'm actually pretty disappointed so far. Hopefully Speed Engineering can make it right.
@BadLuckGarage6 жыл бұрын
Sorry you’re having issues brother. No I had none of the issues you’ve mentioned. Keep in mind ac lines can easily be tweaked or bent a little to give clearance. When installing them from the bottom, I just held the wires back against the firewall and they literally slid right in on both sides with no issues whatsoever. As stated in the video, this was an automatic 2002. A manual trans car may have the the slave cylinder in the way but I wouldn’t know since I haven’t done an install in one. I will say that if your collector is hitting the tunnel wall then it sounds like you got a bad piece for sure. Good luck and hopefully SE will take care of that for you. 👍🏻

Thanks brother. Yea I drove my youngest daughter to school in it this morning and it sounds mean as hell from inside the car but outside you can hear all the leaks. I’ll have to use four clamps up front because if I have it welded anywhere ahead of the Xpipe it would make future disassembly impossible but from the X-pipe back it’s definitely getting welded up. Like I said I already bought two of those clamps last night(that was all the autozone at the end of the road had in stock). I’m gonna buy two more from another location today and my put them in tonight if I get off work early enough. I’m very hopeful those will seal but if not then I’ll order up four 3” Vband setups and next time my cousin is in town (he’s currently working in Kentucky) I’ll take it to his house and do a video with him tigging them in place of the first two slip joints on each side. He’s actually wanting me to treat his house for some pests anyway so it’d be a good exchange of services. Lol
