Lovely sound getting away from Liskeard! Fantastic scenes with the Riviera chocolate and cream rake, lets hope we get to see the same pairing later this year!

Such beautiful video of a stunning class of locomotive in picturesque environments! I have a lovely print of a painting of #6027, KING RICHARD I, on the RIVIERA east of Reading, and it is a real treat to see one of the King class rocketing along!!

Thank you Beautiful camera work and sound. It took me back to my childhood. This country needs to invest in our heritage, so people can feel really proud of their country. Not just trains ( which I love) , but also planes, boats, cars, lorries. It’s important to remember how we got here and the successful journey we were able to make.

The speed those con-rods are going at it amazes me they don't self destruct. Lovely shots, thanks.

Hi and thank you for your kind, thought provoking and much appreciated comments. The centrifugal forces on the bearings are huge, exacerbated by the heavyweight connecting rods the G.W.R. insisted on. Best regards, Alan

I only clicked on this because I thought it was a film about Deep Purple!!!🤔 A lot of Smoke on the Water down Devon and a touch of Fireball @ Cholsely. She certainly seems to be needing to get somewhere in a hurry, does she actually have connecting rods!!!!! Great memories Alan, that's brightened up a dull, depressing day😃😃😃

It's always so splendid to get a video from you, Alan. I was moping all day, quite worried there was nothing to see. Re-runs... Nah, who cares? I too thought she was fast - but I was on 2x speed. Hmm. Not disappointed at 'normal' at all. Then I thought "Hang on - that's King class, with it's outside suspension on the front truck" (that's 'Ameri-speak'). Sure enough, and at 5:11 what a good shot of it. All in all, a very welcome diversion from 'real life' this evening. Thankyou so much. BTW - who owns the King Ed? And how much does it cost to rent her? Just intrigued.

@@Steamclips Thankyou - that's an absorbing web-site. You know so much, and I now have a Q: how does one 'reduce the profile' of the cylinders without reducing their cubic capacity... and, hence, power?

Fingers crossed to see that king 6024 return back to the mainline and once they start overhauling the other king 6023 and they shall definitely changed their minds and say return 6023 to mainline running like 6024 to make it first time for both kings to be seen on the mainline

Hi there, Wonderful photography, helped by such an elegant subject! As a matter of curiosity, when was the Royal Albert Bridge uprated to take Kings? I think I'm right in saying that when steam ruled, they stopped at Plymouth... ATB David

Hello David and thank you for your kind and much appreciated feedback and question. The bridge was strengthened in 1969 with additional links added between the chains and decking which allowed the heavier Western Class diesel hydraulics to cross into Cornwall. Best regards, Alan

Go on, Alan, do the locomotion. Sorry for not commenting, but I've managed to solve the problem. Let's hope I won't have to face it again. Now that you can do it let's make a chain now, Chugga-chugga motion like a railway train now. Do it nice and easy now, don't lose control, A little bit of rhythm and a lotta soul. So come on, Do the Locomotion with me.😂🙃

I will agree about the crap design of OHL gantries. You just have to compare this with existing designs elsewhere here in the UK to see what a joke it is.
