So basically, World Machine 2 lets you create and export customized terrain as a single static mesh but without textures or materials? Great job on the level by the way :)
@Maverick99
@Maverick99 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes you can use World Machine to make an actual model. I used it to create a mold for Unreals Land Terrain here however. Unreals land terrain is not static and can be manipulated in a large variety of ways.

Adjusting the values and density of foliage in this scene takes 5min. You can have this level optimized in no time. At present it runs at 50FPS in editor which is too high. This is mostly due to the density of trees and clovers. You can adjust the values and get it up to 90 which should be the goal for any game on console or PC. Maybe higher for console idk.

@Maverick99
@Maverick99 8 жыл бұрын
Documentation for Unreal Engine has everything you need to know. I know it sucks reading through it. Focus on what you want to do, then as you go, read up on what you can do better or find the answers you are looking for. That's how I learned. No specific tutorial will help. Either get a tutor or dive in their and start doing stuff.

Great video, but just wondering, is there underwater foliage. I saw that you got rid of the trees (which was a good choice), but I don't know if that was just for the trees or all foliage
@Maverick99

You could apply under water foliage to it's own ground material. In this video there was no underwater foliage however. I erased every plant around the lake.

The material used on the landscape has procedural grass. Best to look up the documentation on unreal. Basically, everywhere the material exists on the landscape, you can apply foliage and modify the densities and other values. If you are making a large map, this is the smartest route to take.
