This worked really well. Tip for others that do this: Buy some electrical tape to cover your tracks. It will seem like an electrician did it. The metal of my washer was poorly made and the holes for the screws didn't align well, making me strip the screws. I brought one to home depot and they found me near identical replacements.

I have the back panel removed and habe a thing keeping it from falling off when others spin cycle

If I were the landlord of an apartment complex that has a central laundromat instead of a washer and dryer in each unit, I would make the laundry machines free for all residents to use by having an HID(R) RFID reader instead of a coin slot or credit/debit reader on each speed queen machine. The resident just taps the rfid key fob that he or she uses to access the clubhouse or the pool area on the RFID reader mounted on the washer or dryer then, selects a wash or dry cycle of their choice.

Kind of a hassle to have to open each time to touch the wires together repeatedly to do a load. For those that are smart (not the ones on here taking crap about getting shocked or hoping he gets caught), this process can be automated with a small arduino or similar and a relay with N/O contacts used to connect to those two wires. Then you just need a trigger mechanism like a hidden momentary push button or I prefer a hall effect switch. However, some machines know how many milliseconds it takes for the coin to pass so too long or too short of a relay or switch closure and the machine will "suspect" something wrong and error.

bro wtf. You don't need an arduino. I'm considering just shoving a momentary switch with long wires into the connectors and feeding it out the back. I just need to figure out how to do this anonomously as there are cameras all over my apartment
@OGThinkster2 жыл бұрын
@@Soaraza Well of course you could use a simple momentary switch, but someone may find it if it's dangling out the back of the machine unless you make it look "factory". For about $10, I can build an internal device to automate the process and no one will ever know, unless a repair tech happens to open the machine and be like "WTF?" using a magnet as a trigger isn't too obvious unless you have a bunch of people watching you...
@iTzLynch2 жыл бұрын
@@OGThinkster would you be able to elaborate on this a bit? I’d even pay you to make the device for me and I’d install it. No cameras in my apartment laundry room. I just searched some basic arduino and Hall switch effect videos. Just not sure exactly how to wire it all up.

If you end up doing this, just keep it to yourself because most people have a weird sense of "integrity" (that's what they call it, I call it something up their butt) in which they claim the low income individuals justify this practically harmless action due to conviction of some sort. To all the people who haven't lived in the project housing (especially with large families), conviction when it comes to topics like this, especially by inexperienced individuals should not be brought up; plus this is very helpful because...1) People struggle and need a break sometimes, especially when a machine washes 10 articles of clothing for $2, it stinks, and runs poorly. 2) Usually, buildings who have these are low income of some sort, thus the management is negligent and they leave the machines damaged for months. 3) Who the hell doesn't like free laundry? The machine doesn't suffer damage and everybody is can be happy...c'mon now, don't mean to kill it for all the entrepeuners investing their money in old Speed Queen machines. Sheeeesshhh, give me a break! :)

And that's why owners will change the screws to security screws that require a special bit to back out the screws that only people in the special trades can get the correct bit to open them. it's easier to get your hands on the key to open the service door and make the machine think you are a repair person putting it into program mode and start the machine that way with no error code or damage done to the machine so no one will ever know who started the machine.

Its like 14 Guage wires im sure whats running thru wires that small isn't going to cause anything more that a small zap. Coupled with the fact were talking 120 volts source. It takes 10,000 volts to even possibly kill a human. So 120 is nothing. And there's not even that amount running thru the wires you would be manipulating. More like 12 volts at best.
@bigclivedotcom10 ай бұрын
@@BadThingsHappenHere That is so wrong. 120V can easily push enough current through you to cause a fatal shock. Especially with damp hands and lots of exposed grounded metal in the vicinity. Even a wire the thickness of a human hair can pass enough current to kill a human.

As a landlord I can tell you renting apartments is not an easy business and the profit on these machines is little if anything. After subtracting the electric bill, gas bill, water bill, the cost of the machines, and the cost to repair the machines when they break, we are lucky to break even. So if you think you are sticking it to a mean landlord who is trying to gouge you on laundry, you're mistaken. I provide laundry to my tenants as a convenience to them not as a way to make money. But even if there was a small profit after all the bills are paid, if you don't agree with the price you can go to a laundromat. It's never right to steal and one day you're gonna see how it feels when someone steals something from you that you worked hard to obtain.

@Carlosqmcg6 жыл бұрын
You are right a washer is connected to 120 volts but that part of the circuitry may only require maybe around 12 volts or so (maybe less), the voltage is converted and stepped down before it gets to that part of the machine. You can still get shocked or short out the circuitry if you are not careful and ruin the machine for everybody. But it really wasn't smart for him to show his face if he was really stealing use of the machine.

It gets pretty fucking annoying when you live in a rental and your landlords don't maintain their machines, which is not at all uncommon in cities. Waiting forever for them to come empty full change bins, or often putting money into these things just to find out they're not working. Then you don't get your money back because they don't give a fuck about coming out just to refund you $1.50. So whether the machine straight up jacked your money, or left you with an unusable machine which was included in your rental contract (meaning they promised you laundry access as part of the exchange for the amount of rent your paying), it's thievery as well. So fuck 'em.

So in summation, I fully agree with you, stealing back my own money is a nice way to justify my thievery. Now, if you want to talk about character and shitty lives, Marty, I can only imagine how much of an unfulfilled pussy you are in life if you felt a washer hack video was your place to reinforce some contrived sense of moral superiority you seem to possess.
