Don't change the login URL. It's VERY easy for someone to find. 1) Use Cloudflare to geo-block the login URL. 2) Don't use Admin / Administrator for your username. Rather use something like random like "JSZ6qv9sebN@S6Py" & a longer password like "NfvE0~bpcD07EdW2#Mpb!9/" 2.1) 2FA your login & backup the 2FA codes.. 2.2) Use Wordfence to limit the number of login attemps before someone is blocked. 2.2.1) Use Wordfence to automatically block anyone trying to use "Admin", "Administrator" ,"Adm1n" etc etc To add to this, if you need an external service to do an authenticated lgoin, you'll have a bit of extra work to do. Also if the URL changes because someone found it, you'll have even more work to do. Keep the login default & secure it properly. Proper planning = proper execution. Thank you for your video's Paul!

From memory elementor did a video on optimizing the images prior to uploading. There is also the angle that a lot of images are added by themes during installation that aren't needed ...

I agree. I think a lot of people using WordPress just build the site and then look at how to speed things up AFTERWARDS! A little planning and initial thought can go a long way to building a fast site that doesn't need to rely on a load of plugins and tricks to speed things up.

you should do a video on toolkit for Elementor as well. I use that and find it really great. It does most of these things and also you can remove your theme too.

Toolkit for Elementor is a solid plugin and one I've covered in the past. I'll have to dig my license out and take a look at what's changed.

I use wp asset clean up pro and it seems a little more powerful than this; from your video I see a missing feature which I think is very important: the ability to set asynchronous and defer scripts for the single page instead of disabling the whole plugin; it can often happen that you use some plugins for specific pages that conflict with others, so the best way is to check the behavior on the single page instead of having a general rule. However, this plugin seems much more user friendly to me while wp asset clean pro is a bit more difficult to use

WP Asset Cleanup focuses on granular JS & CSS enable/disable control and yes, is more powerful (and difficult to use) than Perfmatters' Script Manager. But Script Manager is just a part of Perfmatters, which is an all-round optimization tool covering ALL main speed factors.

I use FCPX for the editing and Screeenflow 10 for the screen recording. The larger mouse pointer is managed by Screenflow and the zooms are done in FCPX.

Why isn't the Elementor “hello” theme mentioned? By speaking of bloat, the hello theme is the most basic theme you can pick, and you're good to go, like on a blank canvas.

If you’re an Elementor user, for sure. But not the best option if you’re looking to use Gutenberg.

Online resizing tools are time consuming, I use Windows Power Toys, which allows me to resize on the fly, and in bulk if necessary. It also allows bulk renaming which helps from an SEO standpoint.

I think that Perfmatters has the edge in the way in which you can manage the script rules. But, if you don't have the budget for it then I'd say that Freesoul is a great alternative. :)

Great video again! Does WP Rocket and Perfmatters in the same WP installation has any additional advantages, other than caching?

I've not tested it personally, but they do place nicely together apparently. I guess the key advantages of using something like WPRocket, etc., is that you can do your caching, image optimisation, modification, etc., in WPRocket and use Perfmatters to do things like strip out the unwanted code and features.

Could be a stupid question but would this tool work alongside WP-Optimize and W3 Total Cache. AND what are your thoughts with using WP-Optimize and W3 Total Cache together - there is conflict with the CSS/ JS options in these? Perhaps you've already covered this topic before but I can't find it.

While I've tested WP-Optimize in the past, I've never really been a big fan of W3 Total Cache, so I can't comment on that. I think the best way to look at Perfmatters is as a tool to strip out the unneeded and unwanted code bloat that can arise from using WordPress and if you still need additional optimisation, look for tools that do that. Generally, they should play well together providing there isn't an overlap in features and both are enabled.
