@RyanMcIntyre9 жыл бұрын
Mejevoli Unless the Otto Cycle has somehow changed for the boxer configuration, tuning the engine is no more difficult than any other engine. Now tuning Subaru and Volkswagen engines in those tiny little engine bays, making piping fit, finding parts - THAT is amazingly hard. I would assume this engine would have similar challenges.
@ferrettankror19 жыл бұрын
Mejevoli You are probably right, it could be an off the shelf map.
@ferrettankror19 жыл бұрын
Ryan McIntyre Well, Subaru engines are like glass, once you start getting knock, they destroy themselves so fast, at least faster than most motors. Ironically, they last a super long time with a good tune. Haha yes, trying to fit a front mount intercooler on a WRX is a pain in the butt because the lack of room :S The FRS might have a bit more, I am not sure.

It’s an 86 because the bore of the engine is 86 mm and the stroke is 86 mm! That makes a square engine for power and torque! The forces in the engine are considerably less because the rotating parts are harmonized which makes it relatively easy to upgrade to increase the power output! Hence all the aftermarket add ons!

2 years on and this is still one of the best looking GT86 / FR-S / BRZ cars out there. Jay’s right on the money. The depreciation for this car is large. I can pick one up that’s a couple of years old for $15,000 CAD low Km, drop 12k on Stage 1 and 2 Cosworth, and anther 5k on suspension and brakes and this car is good on any track.
