I've been wondering for a couple weeks now how this worked. I changed all my mounts in my 02ES300, but got stuck on this one. It was super tight coming out, then noticed the new one was bigger. So I stuck the old one back in, and was not able to get the switch mounted back on. Another great video. I've always had to know how things work. Been tearing stuff up since I was very young.

Very cool. I don't have the active ones on my camry, just 3 hydraulic (plus the dog bone). I do have an annoying intermittent vibration lately... I'm leaning towards replacing the side mounts since they are 18 years old now but I wish there were a good way to really diagnose them. They SEEM fine
@speedkar994 жыл бұрын
If oil has leaked out or you notice the engine rock alot back and forth when Changing from R to D then it's time to replace them.
@ScubaCat34 жыл бұрын
@@speedkar99 Nah, I took it off completely and it *seems* fine. But on another vehicle (ford minivan), I had the same thing where I couldn't detect a problem but it had failed internally - maybe a valve or diaphram broke - and was not absorbing vibrations. Replacing it fixed the problem immediately. With the toyota, they're just so expensive, I hate to throw a part at it and not solve the problem.

Another great video SK! Thanks I changed mine out few months back. Just not sure whether this mount is really worth it over a conventional rubber pad type one especially considering the expense!
@speedkar994 жыл бұрын
You'd likely feel the difference if you went with the non-active mount.
@Redkit343 жыл бұрын
Bro when you activated the engine mount you sent air into the mount and compressed the hydraulic chambers so you increaed the spring rate of mount. When there is no air in the system these two chambers touch each other and establish a softer mount. However stiffer spring is soft for higher loads and higher frequencies. When you rev the engine up to higher speeds you will need a stiffer sping mount to have a softer ride. You shouldnt activate it at lower revs or adjust proportionally. When you activated it you sent air at full rate. This gadget shouldnt be on off valve but a proportional valve. This is my assumption from my vibration knowledge and hydraulic control. I didnt know this type of mounts until I saw your video thanks again :D
@Questchaun4 жыл бұрын
Seems overly complicated to secure a v6
@rafaelrodriguez4422 жыл бұрын
I thought it would be the opposite. When the active engine mount is "off" , should the engine vibrate? I'm trying to figure out why I'm getting a slight vibration in the cabin when the car is at a stop and in gear. It's like a slight drone. Most people won't even notice it but I know this engine show be very smooth at when in gear. Could it be my motor mounts? 130k on car. Changed plugs Pcv Cleaned mas air flow Injector cleaners
@speedkar992 жыл бұрын
Yes it could be the mounts. If you have active mounts then use the scan tool software to enable and disable. If there's any noticable change then its working. Otherwise you have a vacuum or electrical problem
@tlacki13 Жыл бұрын
Awesome explanation- TY! I had no idea that was in my car.. I went to replace the 3 lower mounts and found the front one that I got wasn't an active type. There's not a lot of room in there- do you have a video on how to pull this one out and replace it? Or at least, can you say if it comes out from the bottom or top of the engine compartment?
@kbbkbbkbbkbbkbb3 жыл бұрын
very good video - but what I don't understand is when will you feel excessive vibration if one of these goes bad - is there primary use to reduce vibration when going at idle as the video seems to say at one point? Of would you feel vibration thru all RPM ranges, or ???
@angelobovara3174 жыл бұрын
All that engineering and expense could have been avoided had the balanced the reciprocating assm.
@Argedis4 жыл бұрын
Aren't V6 engines inherently smoother than i4 engines? At least at load. But what about idle? Are V configuration smoother than i configured engines?
@speedkar994 жыл бұрын
Yes V6 is smoother than i4. But i6 and V8 is smoother than them both. It has to do with the derivative of acceleration (secondary inertia forces), and how they are balanced in the engine configuration.
