Times they are a changing my friends. Hot rods are no longer the highest performing cars on the road by any metric and if we are gonna go play in traffic we gotta try to keep up to stay safe
I snagged up this speedway kit, and man... it was easy to do, and it by comparison the cheapest set of hot rod brakes I have seen

hey man thats great to hear. i am looking forward to how this one will drive ...especially brakes wise. I had 40 ford brakes on my last one and ... well.. even on a good day with a light car they leave a lot to be desired.

Just an FYI. As of 1-19-2024 the kit I just bought does not use the spacer behind the inner bearing race any longer. They use a .312 thick spacer behind the tanged washer for the outer wheel bearing. Your video is very well done.

Appreciate the thoughtfulness in how you validate different perspectives, weigh your options, AND then make decisions (even if it is counter to old biases) that provide maximum benefit. A similar brake kit is on the front of my Deuce roadster. Combined with the Nova drums on the rear, it stops great! My 27 is getting drums in front as it will be running 35 wire wheels. Those require a support around the inner surface of the wheel hub.

Thanks for the video. I'm thinking this same kit for my 37 Ford. I would like to use the early Ford juice brakes but as you mentioned this kit is a lot less. The hill I will die on is I won't go with IFS, I don't care what all my boomer street rod friends say lol. ( I'm building an late 60's early 70's street rod).

Glad it helps… I don y really get the ifs thing myself. many moons ago I worked at a shop and we did one ifs install… and man… it is hard work and endless measuring. If I recall once the welding starts there is no way to adjust. To me you hit a point where it feels like you a driving a lowered car and that’s it. But boomer knows stuff. Just ask uncle Tony.

i do not like speeway either but? they have the parts i did a complete conversiob oon my 1935 ford sedan, just finished it. hell i also drove the car when i bought it from ohio to washington state lol what a trip. those old mecanical brakes were lots of fun 2 minths ago going thru wyoming in a snow storm. but the old flat head 8 just purred along the brakes? well thats another stor. they do like to lockup on icegot her home regrouped and ordered the kit. im slow but it only took a few hours but ihave all the brake line tools so wasnt to ba. now it stops

I d ask speedway.. I don t think so.. but they supply spindles. I know it will hurt the wallet but good brakes are a big deal

do not hit bearing s with anything use the old race with a flat plate on top simply hit in centre put flat plate on seal and hit in centre bearings are so hard you can chip on crack them just my $ .02
