Hi Ian, got mine few months back and about 1k km with it. Loving it! Regarding the range, I was also very deceived at the beginning as I was following the pressure indication on the tire. However figured out you could easily inflate it at 3.1 bars just like most of other 18 inches wheel. The range had then dramatically increased. I can get 60 km out of it (I'm 90 kg fully loaded).

WOW. Amazing production. LOVE IT. KEEP IT UP (Also never trust the manufacturers app. Relive is a good 3rd option for range tests). After watching your ninebot Z10 and Kingsong review I'm even more happy with my Gotway Tesla Purchase. I've done 29.6 miles riding at an average of 16mph, average cruising speed about 25mph top speed 29mph on my range test. I will post a complete Gotway Tesla 1020 complete review after 2 months soon.

Good video. Technical info. Helpful for sure. Has Kingsong corrected the tilt-back, tilt forward surrounding the low battery warnings? Also, has the Kingsong app been corrected as it relates to the mileage measurement discrepancy? With me being 200lbs and a beginner rider, do you think the 18L would be a good choice, or would something like the V10/V10F be better suited? I would like your opinion if you'd be inclined to share. Thank you for your time!

I've had my KS18L for 3 weeks now, great wheel but I noticed 2 flaws with it now. 1. The rear light sensor. When riding at night with another E Wheel behind you or a car is approaching you also from behind. Your front light will turn off. Fix: cover the sensor with tape 2. Playing music with colored lights flashing to the tunes. Colored lights fizzle out and don't work properly. Fix: don't group your lights to your music. Other than that, I love this wheel!

Hi Ian, Im a great fan of yours. I'm about to buy an electric wheel, but I really can't choose one. Actually I have a ninebot ES2 scooter, which is quite limited for my purposes: tiny wheels for over-damaged roads in Italy, no hands-free riding and a bit slow. Do you have suggestions for my first unicycle? Is it worth buying an 18" wheel? Many thanks!

Ok Ian.. you have ridden basically every great wheel made.. which is your favorite? If you could only have ONE wheel, which would it be ?

KS18L is the best all rounder IMHO. I own one and so I'm talking from experience. I also used to have problems with the lift sensor until i calibrated it from the app. Now it works great.

Depends why you ride and what you need. I feel the longer range and higher speed makes for the best option. Other features are bonuses.
@GodzillaGoesGaga5 жыл бұрын
Wheel odometers are never accurate (the radius can vary by 2-3% with temperature, assuming the same initial pressure. The pressure changes with temperature). GPS is likely to be way more accurate over distance.

I will hopefully be checking out one today. I love the look of this wheel
@themanofmead52736 жыл бұрын
If the KS APpp is overstating distance travelled, then it is presumably logical to assume it is also overstating the speed you are travelling. This therefore also potentially means that it is tilting you back at slower speeds than you think. Or am I wrong on this?
@Duf6 жыл бұрын
I weigh close to you and I did a 30 mile ride with 30% remaining. That was actual mileage not via the KS app. It seems to me that battery range can vary greatly. Remember, my first pack was defective, perhaps the one in that wheel is not up to snuff either.
@Speedyfeetuk6 жыл бұрын
Its possible I guess. You have good temps right? Do you have stats from your ride? (Could you download map my ride and do a single ride out perhaps?....you know if you are bored or something lol - and send the stats over (elevation gains and losses etc). Average speed over the 25.34 miles was 14.8mph - elevation 2071ft and it took 1:43 to complete.
@Duf6 жыл бұрын
I use an app called Strava I will do the same ride again with the app running and let you know the results, it gives similar stats - here are the stats from my last Monster ride - www.strava.com/activities/1831209870?

This wheel's battery is too small. The speed restrictions on lower battery isn't exactly a bad idea, but it depends on how severely it limits your speed.

I was really leaning towards this one. Now I think I'll just wait and monitor the forum for awhile. Although I'm fairly desperate for a more powerful wheel. This InMotion V8 keeps trying to kill me going down hills, (maximum loading/severe tiltback). Also want some range this time around. Can't stand violent 'tilt backs'. It doesn't have to be that way now does it?

I own A KS18L and I feel somehow that this video didn't do it justice i also feel Ian may also have a faulty wheel as there are guys much heaver than him who have had more than 32 miles range. The lift sensor can also easily be calibrated from the app after updatinf to the latest firmware. This wheel simply rides really well. Its impossible to regret buying this wheel
@gliderrider6 жыл бұрын
I weighed 264 when I wrote this. They've changed the weight loading on the v8 since I bought the v8 from 264 to 240 to now 220. Having lost recently 20 pounds, the wheel is now riding much better in the hills. As of 10-26-18, I've pre-ordered the KS18XL Which is coming out. I do think the Gotway mSuperX has refined itself in the quality dept as well. Hard decisions indeed. But fun to contemplate upon!

Hey all! I recently just ordered a KingSong 18L and plan on joining the euc craze! I plan on using it in and around my hometown of Bedford and also Essex Colchester when I'm at uni. Just wondering what the laws are in the UK. Are there any limitations I should be aware of, or is it more of a common sense thing, similar to bicycles? Any help would be appreciated!
@Speedyfeetuk6 жыл бұрын
Grey area for sure - depends how you interpret the law (which from my layman understanding) doesnt quite fit the type of ride this is. This means its neither legal or illegal. Riding fast is a massive no no around any area where there are other people.

really liking your videos. I'm new to this wheel thing. it's been a week actually and I'm hooked. one concern though I'd like some feedback on is these mid operation shut downs. I just heard about these and am worried about this happening to me. is there a video on this subject somewhere? obviously I'd like to avoid that ever happening if possible.
@Speedyfeetuk5 жыл бұрын
As long as you are following the Speedy Feet golden rule....dont ride faster than you can run then you can USUALLY roll out of it. Shut downs are less common now on the newer machines with massive motors and oversized components, but you can never rule them out completely on any brand.
@Anakena36 жыл бұрын
Hey, was waiting for your review ! Great as usual and transparent! thanks. Got it, rode close to 300 miles with it. Pretty happy nice build, reliable as far. Flaws if notice: app is crappy (button hidden by keyboard, mess up with the iPhone on my BT, stays permanently in the back ground - you have to close it, distance measurement is a joke, battery left is so tiny, impossible to read while riding), Tyre is fit in the wrong side (same for a friend - see the arrow on the side - what are they doing in this factory !), and with this tyre, (it differs from previous version), if I ride on foot, I can hear tyre scrapping the inner shell - very annoying, of course I'm not doing one foot all the time, but not acceptable at this price level, you'll notice that the wheel is not actually perfectly centered in the shell - again, what are they doing here), Trolley motor switch are definitely unstable. found out that if you treat them gently, they work better. (eg: don't jump of the wheel and grab the handle too quickly), but real pain is with on foot on the ground the other on the wheel when your in a shop for instance, it can activate randomly even if you're not touching the handle, ending up in the wheel almost falling down(no balance anymore) and yourself reaching out the 22kg to avoid the shell to scratch down the ground (happen 3/4 times in a month) or you let your wheel rest with the engine one, you move away, lift sensor activate alone and the wheel drop stupidly. (Inmotion with their physical switch got I right). Also good to know: issue with first batch for the lights (they melt -they are replacing it with an aluminium plate right now), they had also trolley lock issue burning the mother board, now fixed with latest firmware). I weigh 65kg: it's pretty darn hard to climb steep streets, you really have to put everything you got on your toes to start getting the speed, then it's ok,. breaking for big wheel is not great, anticipation is more key then before. Stuff I love: light turns on automatically backwards, auto switch: great, pedals height awesome : visibility, sharp turn, shell is solid, no noise, motor is a beast, top speed awesome,trolley handle is great at so practical. That's it for me. Will still recommend it as a great wheel with flaws for early version.

@genx1565 жыл бұрын
Just re-watched your V8 review - seem's I'm quite a bit lighter in weight and my temps here in Spain are around 28c, so re-crunching the numbers I'd easily get double the range with the KS18L - maybe an upgrade option :-) just hope they fix the motor shut off feature.

That range is telling me KingSong are building in an awful lot of unuseable battery percentage. I’m 95kg and easily get between 30 to 35 miles range on my Tesla. Your unexpected tilt backs are worrying. I’m ruling this one out as a potential change from my Tesla. The MSuperX is still the one I’m leaning towards. 🤔

Maybe, although 25 miles is what I get from other WH similar machines. To be clear - there were no unexpected tilt backs - as in just random for now reason - they came at the times they should have done...just incredibly sharp compared to other wheels, so can take you by surprise.

Yup, sure glad I went with MSX instead. Gotway is not what it used to be, sure some of that old nonsense will still keep living a bit in some minds but love seeing even anti Gotway folk now loving it and the reaction after stepping off the MSX, it's simply a mighty machine through and through and so far seen none of the small flaws. Not to say they will not show up still a early model, I can say though it sure do satisfy in the speed department so for us speed freaks that choice just go more simple.

I own Kingsong and I can tell u this video doesn't do it justice. The list sensor can easily be calibrated just like i did to mine and niw works great. This is a beautiful wheel unlike the Kingsong and it rides really well as well. The pedals are just at the right angle unlike the Gotway. @Speedyfeetuk6 жыл бұрын
Yeah really odd, hence the 2 distance tests. Battery showing 100% in the app, was hoping a second cycle would product a better result. Although 50miles seems really high, where are you riding (flat roads? Off road?) and what temp? How are you measuring your distance btw?
@FrenchFighter016 жыл бұрын
was recently and I live in France, so we have rather warm temperatures until last week...So yeah 20-25°C...Riding mostly flat with 10-15 mph speeds...That's also what other people with KS18L are getting...I own an ACM 1300wh and I'm getting the same range with my KS18L...measuring my distance with google maps, not with app.
@Speedyfeetuk6 жыл бұрын
Ah ok, yeah probably speed and terrain then. Average speed of the tests was around 19mph, rarely dropping down that low. (Of course we do tests to see what the MINIMUM you are going to get is based on our weight at the time). So its a fairly extreme test - one solid ride and at speed mixed with road and off road with a mixture of hills (this time around we put screen shots in to show the elevation gains and losses etc so all the info is there to openly see). Temp was also lower than yours, all those things will make a difference. Would love to see a screen shot of a 50mile route though with the stats - if you can then send it over to info@speedyfeet.uk - cheers!
@FrenchFighter016 жыл бұрын
I mean same goes for MSX mate, you won't do 160 km with 1600wh...neither will you do 130km...Its a shame your review seemed to focus on the range (everyone knows Kingsong announces false ranges and has a range descrenpency issue in the app) rather than the real assets the wheel brings : that is amazing riding experience, very smooth and turns amazingly well. I've tested the MSX and it doesn't take curve nearly as good. Also I think you need to calibrate the trolley handle 1st, your fail rate is abnormal, I've gotten perhaps 5 fails out of 100 lifts...Anyways I'll try to send you a screenshot, though I hardly ever go this far...

Seams a bit of a „nerved“ and totally biased review...at least thats my impression. The face you make on the voice warnings...are a good example! If you would have any knowledge and it would be fair....you would have at least mentioned that you can easily switch those voice warnings to beepings, like on the Gotways...so nobody needs to hear that voices...but thats missing in your review. also the trolley sensor...can be calibrated...no mention at all about it! Also i guess thats the first time you use „map my ride“...and also before you have neversaid how „fantastic“ the Gotway app is, which never disconnects...never jumps around ...messures the speed perfect, has no difference in mileage(thats just all ironic!) Also: Do you want to tell me that any other wheel when it has 15-20%...does not have the same massive voltage drop? Seams you tried to find any nitpicky you can get! Sorry, leaves a very bad taste this „review“....at least in my opinion!!
@FrenchFighter016 жыл бұрын
i have to agree...seemed like an a bit unfair review...
@Speedyfeetuk6 жыл бұрын
Remember....not finished with this wheel, 250km, 650km and 1000km reviews to come. Give it time dude before you lash out. The FIRST review always comes like it is out the box. I have said many times the Gotway APP is awful, its plain terrible like the Kingsong APP - its like they used the same designer lol. The 'face' made whilst the sounds, dont misinterpret that - it was simply a face I do when the satnav interrupts me whilst trying to talk. MAP my ride - not true - I said in the video, so to be clear - ALWAYS use map my ride, have done for the last 5 years. It was the FIRST time I had used the APP from the manufacturer to measure the milage...big mistake and we made up for this by doing a SECOND distance test, and when that was different we then tested to see why this is. This is a NEW revelation that the manufactures APP maybe giving a false readout as we have never used them before to measure distance - always map my ride (look back through the videos...we are always using map my ride for range). So from now on knowing there could be an issue we will ALWAYS test the wheels APP against the reliable 'map my ride' to see if it works correctly - now we know there is potentially an issue. What I can say, we have had a LOT of issues with this wheel from ones we have sold (in fact in 5 years - its the first time ever we have had a wheel returned as the customer was so unhappy with it!), this has been left out of the video to protect kingsong as they work out all the niggles as we are open to the fact when a new wheel comes out there can be niggles that needed sorting - its can happen with lots of wheels when they first come out - AND to add - we have had none of the issues with our wheel thats on test (apart from the bits you see in the video). So in the background there is some context to the review that we were not keen on spreading far and wide as its such a new wheel But - there are many customers happy with the wheel as their units are unaffected they are all here: www.speedyfeet.co.uk/collections/featured-collection/products/kingsong-ks18l-electric-unicycle (click on the reviews - currently 6 5 star reviews). But as I say, don't lash out just yet - 250km (We have almost done 250km on it now), 650km and 1000km reviews to come. PS - our aim has always to be honest and fair to what we ride, based on experience and of course our OWN impressions and opinions. If somethings missing from a review...thats just an oversight and sometimes because there isn't the time to cover every single little thing - thats why now on a single wheel we do so many videos (Opening and range, 250km, 650km and 1000km) - then hopefully we hit all the notes ;) Thanks for watching!
