Here it is Bob. Spektrum AR636A 1 Throttle 2 Airelon 3 Elevator 4 Rudder 5 Lights 6 Flaps. Under my flap systems I am programmed according to the Maule Instruction manual. Norm: 100% Flap Mid 0% Flap w/ 4% Elevator Land 100% Flap w/ 10% Elevator, Speed 2.0s Switch = FLAP Thanks Bob.
@bobclarie6 жыл бұрын
Do your flap servos share a single channel with a "Y" connector? I think "Norm" should be "0" "Mid" around 20 to 40, and "Land" around 100 + or - "Norm" would be flaps all the way Up. "Mid" somewhere in between and "Land" would be down to your desired angle. OK, I just looked at a photo of the eFlite Maul, and yes, the flaps do share a single channel; my Bixler2 uses a separate channel for each flap servo because they are mounted like aileron servos; asymmetrical. You will not need to do any mixing like in my video. Try my above suggestions John. Bob

Hi, so I’m quite confused. I recently picked up 3 amazing condition rc gliders for free and the asw28 style one has a confusing servo configuration in my opinion. In total There are 4 on the main wing, the wires come down and then they get split into 2 DuPont connectors. So does that mean one of the connectors will control both flap servos and the other will control both ailerons? Long story short, there is 2 servos per 3 pin connector. Sorry if this is confusing, it’s hard to explain in a comment section.
@bobclarie6 ай бұрын
Yes, it is common for two servos to be combined with a "Y" adapter. A "Y" adapter combines two servos into a single plug. This is common on aileron servos. Aileron servos are mounted asymmetrically, allowing them to move in opposite directions at the same time. Regarding the flap servos. Typically, flap servos are also mounted asymmetrically, however, they must move in the same direction, unlike the aileron servos, hence, each servo would require it's own receiver channel. However, if the flap servos are mounted symmetrically (same physical orientation), then you could combine them with a "Y" adapter and use only one receiver channel. Let me know if I can be of further help. Bob

Bob this is the result of those settings. My toggle switch at 0 (Norm) flaps are all the way down. Toggle switch at 1 (mid) is mid and toggle switch at 2 (Land) flaps are in full up position. Thanks John
@bobclarie6 жыл бұрын
OK, your servos are running opposite than mine. Two options here. Swap the settings for "Norm" and "Land" in "flap system". Or, go into "Servo Setup", locate your flap servo, select "travel" go to "reverse". Go down to the bottom and change the current setting of "NOR REV". That should do it. We're getting close, I think. Bob

Thanks so much for this. I just bought an eflite maule and I have the dx7s. Is there a flap reversing option. My flaps are down in position 0...and up in position 2?
@bobclarie6 жыл бұрын
Hi John, if you review my video again, around 9:50, you'll see where you can change the servo from NOR, to REV. Try changing those settings and you'll find the correct settings for the flap settings. Keep us posted on how your eflite maule is coming along. let me know if you have any further questions. Best. Bob

But then when i move to switch 2 they go back up instead of lower one more time. I also lost rudder control and cant figure that out. I checked the rudder plug and its plugged in. Any thoughts? Hi John, I haven't flown fixed wing RC for quite awhile; been flying my Mavic Pro quad. The battery in my DX7s is dead, will charge it back up, and review the setup in my DX7s once charged up. Bob....another DX7 question....how do I adjust my throttle stick so it does not start the motor as soon as I move the stick just one little click up...? Thanks Bob!
@bobclarie6 жыл бұрын
Hey John. Try adjusting the throttle trim. There is a toggle switch just to the right of the throttle stick. This switch can be pushed up (to increase throttle neutral position) , or pushed down to decrease throttle neutral position. Give that a try and let me know if that works. Bob

What receiver are you using, and what channel is each servo plugged in to ? The Mavic Air looks like a nice aerial photo platform. Go into your "function list" then enter the "flap system" and tell me the values under "Flap" for "norm" "Mid" "Land" "speed" and "Sw". Are there any values under "Elev" ?

not sure yet. This plane seems to bring up question after question. Are you familiar with Eflites AS3x technology?
@bobclarie6 жыл бұрын
Kinda, I have an eFlite UMX Radian with AS3X controller. The controller simply tries to keep the plane level after you center the sticks, pretty cool.
@chefjness6 жыл бұрын
Correct. My plane sits on a plane stand when I am working on them and my control surfaces are all set to neutral at this point. When I put the plane on the ground and its sitting with its tail dragging the elevator (as3x) wants to orientate in the down position. If I set the elevator control surfaces to neutral while the plane is tail dragging the elevator will have opposite effect once the tail lifts off the ground. LOL...I have no idea if this makes sense...
@bobclarie6 жыл бұрын
This sounds normal John. Did your AS3X receiver come pre-installed in your Maule? The mounting orientation of the receiver in the model is crucial . If you haven't already, I strongly suggest that you go through the AS3X Skektrum tutorials on KZbin . kzbin.info/www/bejne/gp-8mn6dp7GSmLc It can get a little complicated. You need to check and make sure the AS3X gyro corrections are moving in the correct direction. You also need to make sure the control surfaces are moving correctly relative to the stick movements. Do you have multiples modes on your transmitter? Anyway, I have a very simple AS3X model, eFlite UMX Radian, it's only 3 channel, in my case, I just bind and fly; no fancy setups. Let me know how it's going. Bob

You're welcome John. I am in Richmond, CA., east-bay San Fran. Thanks to you, I have re-kindled my interest in fixed-wing RC which is much more challenging than flying the fully auto DJI drones. Do you belong to an RC club? At last count, I have 23 fixed-wing RC models; looking to donate a few; running out of storage room. One of my favorite RC models is an RC Eagle, I think it was from BP Hobbies; in flight, it looks just like a bald eagle; in fact, hawks and eagles flying nearby will try to attack it. I have an eFlite mini radian, which also has the AS3X stabilization like your Maule. I have a favorite nearby flying spot up on Pinole Ridge. Soft landings. Bob

@@bobclarie I know what you mean...the fully autonamous drones are amazing tech....but super easy to fly. That's why I just got a helicopter...the blade 230s V2. Helicopters can be a handful. Great ! When will you maiden your Maule ?
@chefjness6 жыл бұрын
Bob...took out the Maule for its Maiden early this morning. No flight footage....my boys were still asleep. Great, great flying plane. 4s power, 3000mah. Pulls to the left on take off though which is a little uncomfortable. I kept having to input opposite rudder to counter that. I did not want to set the trim on the controller to counter because I think that would be bad once airborne.
@bobclarie6 жыл бұрын
Congrats John. Take some footage if you have a chance, I'd love to see the Maule in flight. So, does the Maule pull to the left in straight and level flight with a cruise setting on the throttle ? Have Fun
@chefjness6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bob. I will get footage for sure. At slow taxi it goes straight. Once I throttle up it pulls to the left and then takes off. Once in flight she is silk smooth and straight as an arrow.
@bobclarie6 жыл бұрын
OK then, straight as an arrow. I don't have much experience with ground take offs; most of my planes are hand launched. I don't have the advantage of a smooth and level surface for take offs. I fly atop Pinole Ridge and don't have smooth level surfaces up there. I fly general aviation planes. As you may already know, there is something called the "P factor", or left turning tendency of a plane during take off. Even in the small planes that I fly, like the Vans RV-12, or Cessna 150, etc, you need to hold quite a bit of right rudder to keep the plane going straight during take off. Not sure if this could explain why your Maule is wanting to go left during take off. Take care. Bob
