Can anyone care to explain to me why doesn't Spell load the percussion sounds onto a drum rack? Is it just a preference thing or is it actually better this way?

As far as I know it is about preference. There are benefits/compromises to each. There are a few videos phase cancel checking hits in drum rack vs on timeline so if your simpler default in your drum rack is setup correctly you can get identical results, but I think the default is a lil quieter, and has a micro attack to avoid clicking that can take the hit out of some drums. I use both depending on how much I want to mess with the pattern of triggering the sound. and you can bounce from one to the other in a lot of cool ways to iterate on an idea.
