30 out of 30 I'm 85 we were taught to spell and read .and when you have multiple choice it's a piece of cake.

30/30 I'm 76 and fortunately we were also taught well. I really don't know what went wrong after that.... However, my opinion is not quite the same as yours. I find that multi-choice questions cause you to have doubts. If I'm asked directly for the spellings it's easier.

Well, I'm 72...going down! We had frequent spelling tests all the way through primary school. Never had a problem. Can't understand folks that can't spell. It's not intelligence: they say Einstein couldn't spell for nuts!!!

When English was still very new to me, I found mnemonic devices to help me remember the spelling of certain words. For example, to embarrass someone is so egregious that it needs to double up the letters R and S. But why do homophonous words such as "receive" and "believe" spell the E sound so differently? @patmcgillhastings9657 lm not a lwriter but I can spell and read .l love both.If I can't pronounce a word I can look at it and tell you if it is not spelled correctly .I think multiple choice is great if you are not sure sound it out and it does work..
