I'm amazed that in spite of the differences in color palette types of Graphics the Sprites available for the Commodore 64 is that the gameplay is almost indistinguishable between the two versions

When I was a kid and played this game for many years, I was so afraid of that ghost. Sadly I could only reach stage 2 on all those years (I guess it's the Ropes). Good thing I could see the entire game, it was something I wondered for many years.

Great game for the Atari. My friend hogged his machine and I hardly ever got to play a game. Brings back good memories. Great game play, but nearly a goner around 20 minutes.

This game went on forever, one of the best on the 8-bit

I bought this game new in the box when it came out. I loved the photo of the miner on the cover and the descriptive narrative on the back, it was a mini-story that set the stage for the game. Really completed it.

The detail of the flare shinespark made this game 10/10 classic vibe

It feels weird seeing this without the music of the Japanese-made conversions.

Had to be quick on that spacebar on the Atari keyboard to blow away that ghost before he got ya. Fun times.

Always loved this game. My only two gripes are the easy deaths from falls and being able to slide sideways off ropes. You have to time your jumps perfectly. But for its time Spelunker was something special.

I didn't remember this game, even not play it at all. Nice to look what I omit.

I completed Spelunker, and it resulted in my first (of many) 8bit era end-of-game dissapointments. I guess I naively expected some kind of end sequence, for my hour of effort (with no form of progress save) but got nothing but a lackluster screen flash and congratulations text screen Same thing happened with Barbarian (Psygnosis). If you're going to make your users plod through to an actual ending in a single run at least give them something for their efforts. (Cartridge memory limitations notwithstanding) Still, Spelunker remains an all time favourite.

Loved this one. When I see 336X240 games like this one, I wonder why so few games were like this ? The majority has a lower resolution. Anyways, it's strange that spelunker is rarely listed in top atari games.

The music at the beginning - what classical piece is that?
@KokoroXIII Жыл бұрын
Hi zxqj, the original music as written by Mussogorsky. You can listen to it on Wikipedia here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mussorgsky_Pictures_at_an_Exhibition_Part1.ogg. The game has 2 different intros actually. You can see the other one here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmO4Xn2NapederM

Looks like this was something made for the apple lle computer. I can tell by the graphics, and the background music that was being played. No doubt about it. 🍎 🍏 🖥 👨💻 🖲 💻 🖱 📺 👩💻

Much easier than the original. But a beautiful game. In the original, if you miss a jump, you die.

I would like to point out, that you're playing it in PAL mode, which is incorrect. It's too slow. It needs to be played in NTSC.
@KokoroXIII9 жыл бұрын
tschak909 Thank for your feedback! Honestly it was so long ago that I forgot there were some issues with 50/60Hz games at those times. Since I live in Europe, all the games were played in PAL mode regardless whether they were dedicated to PAL or NTSC platform. Actually I still cannot remind that separate game versions for both markets (US and EU) even existed which means they were just a bit harder for American players (1/6 faster).
