Gigi went out to touch grass confirmed Seriously though, I've never been interested in Zelda that much, but you nailed this. Can't say for sure about the accent, but sounds rather Bri'ish to me. Plus, the overall attitude, friendly but royal, is very much in character as far as I know. You could say that mind control lady is the same role, but you play all of them rather differently. Meh, I'd argue there's not a "right" or "wrong" pronunciation. It's a word from a piece of fiction, and yes I know Japanese is a syllabary language and therefore there's only "one" way to pronounce it. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the English pronunciation needs to be the same for an example of this we can look at Pokémon. One of the most debated pronunciations of a Pokémon is Rayquaza, specifically the "quaza" part, the ray is just said the same as ray since the root here is x-ray and then the "official" pronunciation is kway-zah as in quasar however ,many go with Ray-kwah-zah. So yes while I fully expect your gut-reaction to be, in the English voice acting for BOTW (I haven't played far enough in TOTK and am not looking up potential spoilers just for a comment) it's pronounced deh-ku (/ˈdɛkuː/) such as when the Great Deku Tree says it. it appears to me when Zelda says it it's Day-koo (/ˈdeɪkuː/) so within the same medium it's inconsistent. TLDR: fiction words don't necessarily have a "correct" pronunciation (same with most real words).
