Since a regular shop always spawns on level 1-2, I'd use that as the base price and then add 10% of the base price for every level after that. Seems easier. Edit: I see this has been pointed out already. Leaving up my comment though for the algorithm.

I thought the default price for items starts at 1-2, not 1-1, so for example climbing gloves cost 8000 in 1-2 (1x multiplier), and in 1-3 they cost 8800 because the multiplier is 1.1x? cause 10% of 8000 is 800, and 1.1x multiplier means 110% price, so they become 8800. I see no reason why it would start counting from 1-1 if you cannot encounter shops there.

That's a good thought and I suppose it's possible. I don't datamine or anything like that so I can't say with certainty how they actually code the equation. I just have an equation that works because the equation I demonstrate in the video is effectively the same as yours and results in the same answers. In my opinion though it would make sense to have a system where the item prices can still be calculated on 1-1 for modularity's sake. In case they want to update or change something they don't have to do any extra work changing the base function

Sorry about that confusion! I can see how that section seemed misleading. It happened because the present costs $8,000 gold and during that clip of the video I was actually already holding the crown item which made it half price at $4,000 gold. So then when I pick up the True Crown it negates the crown discount like I mentioned bringing the present back to $8,000 gold and then doubling it to $16,000 gold!

Caveman selling rare items for increasing prices is wrong. My understanding is he sells them for only $1000 as he does not understand the item and therefore does not know what to charge. This means you can get a plasma cannon from him for only $1000!

I did forget to mention in the video that he can occasionally sell super good items for only 1000 but from what I've seen it only happens sometimes. While I was doing testing he was definitely also selling regular items for increasing prices
