For me the opening the Temple shotcut was quite easy but I have to admit that the RNG gods were on my side that time... I only needed 2 or 3 tries to get the Mines key to the Tunnel Man. I have not yet beaten the Olmec.

I've been playing Spelunky daily since it first came out, and I've only ever been to the temple twice, let alone completed it. I don't understand how people beating it like this is possible. I really don't.

The reason why they leave it in is because then you have all the donations in the videos to thank the donators. Donating will make you be a piece of history.

It's a deliberate choice. With all the other extra work it takes to put the finalized runs together (especially ones with overlays like this one), trimming out the setup would add minimal extra work, but it's too easy to accidentally cut out the interesting stuff that sometimes happens between runs. Things like the takeover ads played during setup ARE trimmed out.

No, it didn't, though. The Original Spelunky came out around then, but this updated version was originally released in 2012 on XBox Live Arcade.

I like this run but I think it'd be cooler if instead of unlocking all the checkpoints and having to keep dying he just went all the way through without dying once

+Tanner Tabor (tanntabo) It wouldn't happen. To beat any wr in this game it takes thousands of resets, and the amount of stress once you get to the end would be unbearable on top of all the agdq stress too. also the Hell% wr is a god time held by d_tea that very well might never get beaten.

I'm willing to bet after the developer said "A fun little nod" referring to the shotgun tombstone, these guys had no idea that he was referring to Evil Dead.

I think the runners obviously know the reference is from the Evil Dead series, the tombstone even says "Ash," and if they didn't get it they'd probably have asked the dev. It's not exactly rare to know about Evil Dead, especially in a videogame fanbase.

It less of exploring the map sandbox mode and more like a hardcore version of super Mario bros. There is no crafting or exploring and more of trying to progress through random generated dungeons.
