Just a note it's no longer free to go in the abbey unless it's for a service, now the charge is mandatory.

that was really good, love the way to talk to the viewers,, you’ll do well.
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Andrew! Yes, I often have a few people in mind that I imagine that I am talking to. That helps me to talk to the viewers in a natural way. I am not naturally a talker, more if a writer, so it amazes me that I do these videos really and really enjoy doing them! I watched your jet ski one last night. I really enjoyed it! Looks such fun! My eyes were square from editing though so I did not drop a comment. I will rectify that in a bit! 🤗

Another lovely video Louise.😊 Great filming and commentary and also nice to see your hair down and still....as opposed to the windswept seaside ponytail.😁

Ah, thank you Cathy! I finally got my hair cut for the first time since October, so it was lovely to have it feeling and looking nice 🤗

hehe, you saw the skeleton riding a bike - the BIzzare Bath walk it promotes is so much fun (it's a comedy / magic walk around Bath which takes a couple of hours in the evening), though of course, it's a paid walking tour rather than the free ones provided. Bath can be expensive but love how you have showed off the more affordable side of the city - there's also walks and plenty of free events throughout the year too.
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jesse! That walk sounds great fun!! I might try that one one day. It’s great that there are free events through the year too. I am going to keep my eyes peeled!

I can't believe the walking tour is so long and FREE!!! And no tipping?!?! Unheard of!!!😮
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
Yes, the guide made a hasty exit as I think she knew people would want to tip her. She was brilliant and I am sure they all are! So much information given in a really engaging way! Lots of history and lots of fun facts too! Really brilliant! Someone chased after her to give her a tip afterwards and she was saying ….”Please, no, I am not allowed to accept tips”! I would have paid for that tour! It’s better than some paid ones that I have done!

@@SouthWestSundays this was an extremely useful tip! We have American visitors coming next month and I would love to take them to the walking tour!
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
@@MagentaOtterTravels Oh brilliant! There was no need to book and there were 4 tours guides on duty on the 2pm tour that I took. They divided us into 4 smaller groups to enhance the experience. It really was SO good! I think each tour guide puts their own spin on it too. I think I heard that there are about 80 guides, so lots of different spins!

A wonderful video Louise and fantastically edited too! Bath is quite local to where my Mum lives and we haven't been there for YEARS! Now I know how to plan my trip with these fantastic ideas! I love videos like these. This will actually spur me to make an effort to plan a day out in Bath easily so thank you! I just wouldn't have the time to do all the research myself (probably why we haven't been for decades). Btw. South West Orchards would do a South West Sundays Cider special for Channel fans! It would be most fitting!
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Alex! Really pleased that you enjoyed it! I hope you get to a trip there before too long. There are so many free things to do there alongside the expensive stuff! I can’t wait to go back and do more! Lol, love the special Cider idea!

Oh I understand your disappointment! The last time I went to Bath to do a Vlog, I couldn't get into the Abbey either. There has been loads of construction, and there are often concerts and things that mean it's close to the public. And when we were in Kent and Sussex visiting beautiful cathedrals and chapels a couple weeks ago, we were constantly running into conflict with graduation ceremonies as well! I feel your pain 😉

A brilliant concept excellently executed in your trademark gentle and relaxing way Louise. I think that this will be very popular, and you came out with some excellent ideas as to how to do Bath on a budget Louise. Some wonderful pieces to camera and great photography too. Above all, your enthusiasm and infectious good nature shone throughout. Well done 👍😊

Aww! Thank you Paul! Each video I do, I learn something. This one used a lot of building blocks that I have learned over the course of time editing. I think authenticity is key and I think my natural self is surfacing more with each video I do.

Really enjoyed seeing Bath, thought the music went well with the video. My cousin lives behind the Crescent (how lucky !) but I've not been for a long time. Lovely market. 😊
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Caroline!! Oh wow! What a place to live! One of the really interesting things that I learned on the walking tour was that the backs of all the houses in the Crescent are all very different to each other, despite looking so similar from the front. Yes, the market was fantastic!! Apparently it was very useful during the lockdowns as it sold everything !

The free walk is a great way to get you bearings in the city. The hostel was so reasonable, a good idea & pretty close to what could have been an expensive destination. I hope you had as much fun making the video as I did watching it.
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
Thank you Faith! The walk really is a fab way to get know the city. I don’t have a good sense of direction so this was perfect and the facts about each place were so interesting and the guide very engaging. I had lots of fun making it thank you, in the research for it, in the filming and narration of it and in the edit. The edit takes hours as I usually have between 250 and 300 clips. This one had over 300 and lots did not make it in to the video. It’s hard work but I love piecing it all together and creating something from nothing if that makes sense. My gran used to sew, so I liken it to making a patchwork quilt like she did. I have to choose the material and the background (the music) and cut it all up and sew it together with a thread going through it to create something. I am so pleased to get feedback that others like yourself like the finished result.

Bath is such a beautiful city and what a brilliant idea the free tour is and isnt it good it is of the tour guides to give up their free time. Or is it council funded i wonder. Also what a lovely sunset to end with.
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
Thank you Shaun!! Yes, the free walking tours are fantastic! They have been running since 1934 I believe. They are led by people with a common love for Bath. They give of their own free time and are not allowed to accept tips. I was just reading about them. They have around 6 months training ( both self study and under a tutor) and walk frequently once qualified. It’s such a lovely thing to do, to share the city with visitors and even residents.

So lovely! I went last weekend to Dartmouth after watching your round robin trip, I loved it. But I could not find where to find the chowder as shown in your video, lol. Btw, where did you watch the sunset in Bath?
@SouthWestSundays Жыл бұрын
Oh brilliant!! So glad you went and enjoyed it!! I got the Chowder from the fish stall in the little market! The sunset was from the garden at the Youth Hostel which is up on Bathwick Hill. It’s a lovely walk out from the centre along the canal and then up past some fields.
