Spend The Perfect Date With Us

As much as I like Jenn & Ben as individuals in how they present themselves, their separation has truly allowed me to reflect that social media is 100% a career and a job to do and nothing more. This is the case for every other social media influencer as well. Everything is curated and crafted for the audience to consume. There is a lack of genuine action and thoughtfulness to do it solely for each other ("we need to film and get paid so let's film a date" versus "lets just have a date for ourselves"). It is setting up cameras, and then going back to walk in front of them to add the effects that it's live. For them it is a job, it is not real and it does not truly represent their authentic relationship or way of life. Obviously no one films the bad, so it is acting and fiction. I am not saying they did not love each other and weren't authentic (of course they were), but what they displayed on social media is a façade and an idealism of what they believe looks great for their audience to consume. Ben posted this 8 months ago, and rumors started to emerge that they separated 6 months ago; two months later from this "PERFECT" date video. They had to appear perfect to get paid. It is deeply disingenuous and we should not forget that and never compare ourselves to social media influencers.

Ha! I guess I'm gullible or naive. I did buy into this relationship as genuine. They seem so happy. One thing I always did think about Ben was that he based his whole life on Jenn's career. I've aways wanted to tell him "do something on your own and not tied to Jenn" because if they do split up, he will have nothing. He will have been a videographer for Jenn and that is about it. I suppose this channel is Ben's deal but perhaps not the big income generator as Jenn's channel. There was this quote I heard in another video which was Jenn saying how much Ben sacrificed. This is true. He did sacrifice a lot. He left England to live in the USA, he left his role as a bandmember. And he never really carved out his own career in the USA. I felt he would eventually grow resentful. Perhaps that is what did them in - the imbalance of it all. Also, I heard Jenn in another video say "I bought a house." not "we." And I think this was already after they were married. So that said something about their relationship too.

That really was the perfect date! Love the communication that you share and that you take the time to continually learn about each other. It's so important! I also have to comment about Succession. I was late to the party, too, and finished watching the series a couple weeks ago. It was great! Like you said, great writing and great acting!
