I'm one of the ones who said I like your vlogs at home best; so this one was right up my alley. Back in May, we decided to eat out less often. We were eating out or bringing in four times a week, and now we do it twice a week. I stock up on proteins at Costco (beef, chicken breasts, halibut, shrimp) and freeze everything in meal-sized portions. On one shopping trip when we were out of everything, I spent almost $500 just on food! It seemed like so much money, but it's enough protein to last about two months, and the rest of our meals -- fresh vegetables, salad ingredients, and a starch (either rice, potatoes, or pasta) -- are all pretty inexpensive. I buy most of that stuff at Trader Joe's. So don't fret the $188; it's a big expense up front, but spread out over the week, it's not that much. Happy birthday to Carson!!!

Groceries are expensive but it’s still cheaper to cook meals & eat at home 😊 ( I find eating out is very expensive 😬 so we only go out for special occasions like a birthday 🎂 ). Your glasses look so good on you, Krista 😍

I noticed you have 3 types of shells for burrito/tacos. You could save $5-$8 just settling in one kind of shell. One flour tortilla in the pan with cheese folded over would probably suit the kids or be an addition to something else for parents or breakfast burrito with an egg inside. Those easier to use up. I just found I hate buying a whole Pack of shells only to use 3. Then it’s not 10 for $4 it is 3 for $4. Still cheaper than eating out and you can control some butter and salt. Love seeing you have chicken breast and other proteins in your week. Our best meal is to have frozen or fresh already trimmed fish fillets salmon or orange roughey, defrost in the fridge outside the package but inside a zip lock. Pat dry when thawed and stick on a baking sheet lined with foil on for 12 minutes and it’s done. No breading. No seasoning. You could add lemon or orange at the end. I put the wrappers in a zip lock so the trash does not stink. I use my rice cooker to make plain sticky rice. That takes about 27 minutes to cook and set when the light goes out. It’s the sushi rice. Just water and rice and push a button. Then add cucumbers cut up. It seems expensive. But less than eating out. Rice also great to extend chili, pot roast, beef stew. Put over rice and the juices just get absorbed by the stew. So good. Rice has to be eaten within a couple days after it’s cooked in fridge. I only have to throw away the foil. Unless it didn’t cover right. And wash the rice cooker insert. And the cutting board for the cucumber. Cause it’s a quick cook does not get the house too hot. And fish is on all the lists for health. Everyone is encouraged to have 1x or 2x a week if not allergic. If you want a hot side the broccoli would work or frozen peas and you could just microwave how much you would eat. I often stick some leftover rice in a container, cut off part of my fillet to save for lunch the next day. 1 - 5 piece tenders at Popeyes is $15.22. 2 is over $30. How to eat out? A ready cooked chicken is under $10. Add a bagged salad and well under $30.

Dinner looked good! I spend $250 a week on groceries but we dont hardly eat out. We eat left overs for lunches and i make dinner every day. I never know what to make anymore kids are so picky. This week it was pulled pork sandwiches, roasted chicken, brocoli cheddar soup, cod, tacos, bacon wraped pork loin, blt. Mostly because i had to do an aip diet and now i have to eat gluten free, sugar free, caffiene free and no night shades right now. I was diagnosed with hashimotos hypothyroidism.

Everything is crazy expensive. How much would you have spent eating out 3-5 times? For us $30ish dollars for a family of 3 for just fast food 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ unless we use the app, sometimes there are some good deals
