pretty late reply, but i found that using curly/wavy hair shampoo (mine's from the brand syoss) does wonders! my hair is naturally wavy though, so i'm not sure it'll work out the same for you, but my hair also looked dead and dry before i found out it was wavy so if i were you i'd consider that!
