Pleased to hear that you are pleased with the speakers after a leap of faith. Amazing how much the stands make a difference. Excellent

Reducing the diametre of the reflex vent will result in a shorter vent length required for a given tuning frequency. A larger diametre reflex vent would result in a longer vent length for the same tuning frequency. Smaller vent diametres will be more prone to vent turbulence noise so larger diametre vents is more desirable but cabinet volume will determine just how much internal volume can be devoted to the vent volume. Smaller vent sizes are often chosen to keep overall cabinet size down. Many designers will place a smaller vent at the rear of a cabinet to minimize the listeners ability to hear vent noises.

Not many insights about Spendor Classic line speakers, great to see one.

Looking forward to hearing the audition video. They look amazing with the stands, to the extent that it would make sense, would it not, for these to be offered by Spendor as a package you could buy all at once. I know your long wait time for the stands was excruciating Kev and that indicates a need for patience by Classic 2/3 owners, who are not going to hear these optimally until those stands arrive, perhaps even changing their minds and looking elsewhere, or sticking with an older two series pair. Spendor should short circuit all that.

Thanks for this very informative review. It couldn't have come at a better time as I've been mulling over adding new BBC sound to my stereo system for some time, and Spendor is on my radar. But I'd prefer 3/1 to its bigger bro 2/3 thinking it would be more friendly for placement. Anyway thanks for giving me food for thought.

I’m sure the 3/1’s sound just as nice. I loved my SP2/2’s so much I felt I needed the latest incarnation. 👍

I have always wanted to know what these would be like compared to the Rogers LS6/a running the seas soft dome tweeter. Yes I know there more up to date never the less they come from the same classroom of thought, you know what i mean.

I have exactly the same speakers and stands and have to say I absolutely love them, they present music in a way that is endlessly listenable. I have owned them now for a few years and never tire of them. Soundwise on the warmer side of neutral yet detailed, no ear bleeding hyped highs here. Perfect for most UK living rooms given the front port. On the downsides, they are both very expensive. The stands arrived very poorly put together (loose and falling apart), you'd think a monkey assembled them. I managed to tighten the screws and re-glue some of the dowel joints where required.

I love mine. I agree the stands were very loose and expensive but they did improve the sound.

I have a small 8m2 room I have turned into my listening room. Would these speakers work well in this space? Also how would the A7's and D7.2 work in this space? Thank you for any input you have.

I have a couple of REL T5 subwoofers on my SP2/3r2 dialled in at 40Hz they not only improve the bass response but completely open up the highs and mids and give you an extended sound stage .( don't believe me ?give it a try yourself )also i have the SP2s spiked up on target stands and get the same result as you do ,however your comments about lower base cabinet resonance is probably because before you were listening to them off axis ,and not because of any special quality of those screwed together overpriced wood stands just a thought!!!
@dittonworks2 жыл бұрын
I’ve no need for Subs, thanks for the recommendation though. Off axis? Not sure I’m sitting off axis

They are 45cm from the back wall. Room dimensions are approx 5x4 meters, slight L shape towards the speaker’s.
