Spennymoor is the home of Thorn Lighting. I worked for Thorn most of my career from Hong Hong. The Hong Hong International Terminal Building, the ICC and IFC, many hospitals and schools are still lit by Thorn. I retired, but still feel proud of the conpany.

Yep, Spennymoor is defo up and coming, with new grant for local structure. The town supports THREE supermarkets, Aldi recently closed their shop behind Cheapside, but built a new one just over the road (which they would not have done if it didn't get the shoppers). Plenty of free parking, but which is time restricted, and MOST shops are still doing well. Some nice open spaces, too. Thumbs up 👌👌💯💯 Oh and yes, house prices are going up rapidly, so buy NOW 👍✔️

I attended Spennymoor Grammar 1961-68 with Norman Cornish’s daughter Anne. School no longer there.

Nice video, but maybe do another to include Whitworth Church, the wooded areas and the interior of the town hall. Then note the short walk to Tudhoe village, which is mentioned as far back as 1066.

You missed out the iconic churches and more to the point the Penn Gill rock bar on cheapside great venue for rock and punk bands. Also the historic pitmen painters one of which is Norman Cornish who’s paintings you were showing. But over all good effort xxxx

Honest place? Spennymoor? FFS spot the policeman is the local sport and although not as bad as the 1970s it is still a place to avoid at night.
