+Roy D. Powell (Royalmae) Hi Roy! Thanks for watching. What do mean by line control? Check out some of my newer videos, Spey Fishing with Jon, episodes 1 and 2, where I fish through some runs. Maybe that will do it. Thanks!

+Jon Hazlett Hi Jon! Never mind, by watching your videos I can see how much extra line you have out too shoot and how you hold it on your rod. I was talking about shooting line control. Like the videos, good job!

Thanks for the videos Jon! I was just wondering if there is a set equation between the rod length and how much line you should have out during a cast? I have an 11' switch with a 28' Skagit head on it and it seems like the head is just a little too long to allow me to place the anchor point close enough upstream to me on a double spey cast without blowing the anchor point. Should I just shorten up the amount of line that I have out to compensate for this? I always worry about having the loop connectors between the running line and the shooting head inside the guides during a cast for some reason.

Hey Cody! A 28' foot head is a bit too long for an 11' switch rod. You would be able to cast a shorter head (around 20') a lot easier. A Rio Skagit Max Short would be a great option, let us know if you have any questions about grain weights or anything else - check it out here - www.ashlandflyshop.com/products/rio-25

Ashland FlyShop Thanks, I'll have to check that out. I knew there had to be something else that I was missing, it shouldn't be as difficult as it seemed with the shorter rod.
