​@@beatriceingraham2571they were the energy in live shows but both have voices that many classify as annoying/distinctive so they needed Emma to sing the lead parts in the choruses. Without Emma 2 become 1, viva forever, love lead the way, too much wouldnt sound as sweet and nostalgic. Geri was needed because she wrote the hooks for stop, too much and most of viva forever. She also was the leader and was the reason the girls took some crucial steps on their road to becoming famous, they needed someone as ruthless and brave as Geri to push them forward in the industry. Victoria was their least essential with geri in live performances but she helped them a lot with bussiness decidions in the band and with her its iconic but i think shes the least important member

​@@survivorbest4589Mel B wrote Wannabe on her own and it's their greatest hit . She wrote lots of other songs too, she also wrote Holler. Mel B was also the lead voice in many choruses like "say You'll Be there", "who do you think you are" and others. I also know that Mel C wrote Stop with Geri, the latter said it herself. Mel C sang tons of parts in the songs and had also tons of solo parts in choruses like "spice up your life, goodbye, never give up" and others, making them great and nostalgic. Bottom line they were definitely the backbone and founders of the group
